The book's out first! (DanCe) I think they are better than the films, but the films let you see things how JK wanted them to be seen in her books, which I think is mainly a good thing. Films are over so fast and the books can take weeks or even months to get through. Yet I think I would still see every film, so <--> yeah! Only 9 months to go.

Is GOF Being split into two films? As for the OofTP there is no way they could do all that in 3 hours...it will have to be a two movie part...right?

maddy - February 22, 2005 11:15 AM (GMT)
I <LOVE> Harry Potter.
I like the books better though; but the movies are great (guys (&*"£> ) !!!

I don't think they are making it into 2 movies Knuxs. It would be kool if they did, because the way they did HP 3 and left out most of the impotanto bits, was pretty crabby, but overall, I am still HP fan ! ! !

(DanCe) (I love this guy)

onlyonekingDom - February 22, 2005 05:26 PM (GMT)
yeah, GOF is one movie (3 hrs long). I have no idea how they're planning on doing OotP, though...all I know is that it's supposed to come out in 2007 (ahhh...so far away...).

I agree that the books are way better...I wish they would last me months, though! I read GOF in 3 days...yeah, I'm pretty lame... #haha# ...can't wait for year 6...hmmm...I still have to preorder it...

Hestia - February 22, 2005 06:16 PM (GMT)
Look, this is me duelling Voldemort! (f///)

Teehee!

I love the books, and the movies are a nice extra. July 16th will be a great day, I'll be at the bookstore at midnight :) And as far as I know, me and my friends are still planning on going to London in November for the GoF-premiere. I got a friend who's nuts about Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), and she really wants to see him in person.

BTW, have you all found the Hestia in book5? Yes, it was meeeee! Well, I wish it was me, but I loved it that there was a Hestia Jones in the Order of the Phoenix.

Edit: made huge error in message and implied that JK Rowling used me as a character. Sorry! I do not know JK Rowling, and Hestia Jones is definitely not based on me.

Although I sometimes do wish I was a witch <evil2>

maddy - February 22, 2005 09:23 PM (GMT)
Ha ha ha! Thats great Hestia!

At least one of us is famous. . !

Rosie - February 23, 2005 10:52 AM (GMT)
Jo, you crack me up! Don't we all wish we were witches at Hogwarts? ( <drool< Ron)

maddy, you really need to type slower. "impotanto" #haha# . I <LOVE> the books better than the movies, but I like the movies coz you get to see Rupert Grint (&*"£>

how many times have you peeps read the books. I've read them at least twice over... But whenever I try to borrow them out, Mum's like: "Maddy, your not reading that! You have to read other things and expand your horizons...!"

But mummmmmmm..............! (Rolly)

maddy - February 26, 2005 01:58 AM (GMT)
Yeah. I plan on refreshing my memory of ALL the books too!!! ><()

onlyonekingDom - February 26, 2005 03:59 AM (GMT)
Sounds good. I'm only going to read OotP before the new book comes out, but I plan on reading all of them again as it gets closer to November. ~Wink~

I'm reading order of the phoenix again. And YES I found Hestia Of course I thought about you.

What you do not know is that I write books and that my full name is Miranda Goshawk. I write standard books of spells. ><()

I really want to discuss the book when I'm finished reading it.
I have questions about a few things. Like why is SPEW so important. Are the house elves gonna play an important role in the next book???? What's up with Luna Lovegood. And why on earth did Sirius die such a weird death??????

Rosie - February 27, 2005 11:48 AM (GMT)
I read POA just before I watched the movie and it sort of ruined it for me

how come??? You didn't like the book??? The movie was a bit different. Personally I think reading the book made it easier to watch and understand the movie.

Rosie - February 27, 2005 12:20 PM (GMT)
oh no, I love the book, its my fave. But because I read it before i watched the movie, while I watched the movie, all the things they left out stood out more. Maybe it's just me.

Did anyone else get annoyed that in the movie, Hagrids hut was in a different place and the Forbidden Forest looked different ?

Tigerlily - February 27, 2005 03:14 PM (GMT)
Ohhhh, nowI understand Rosie. I also was taken aback by everything looking so different. POA is by far my favourite book but so NOT my favourite movie. What buged me most about the movie was the part about Sirius. They should have spent more time explaining who he was and about the bond between him and Harry and Harry's dad. I didn't really see any of that.

Hestia - February 27, 2005 04:35 PM (GMT)
I loved the style and the feel of the movie, it was much darker... But there are some gigantic holes in the plot, which I didn't even notice at first, because I know the book so well. PoA is my favourite book too, I loved the Time-Turner-thing the most.

And Miranda, I didn't even realise you wrote my favourite studybooks! #haha# Maybe that's because I haven't read the books after I got to know you. I will certainly read the books again befor HBP comes out this summer. And then I need to decide which part to take with me to the premiere of GoF in London, to get it signed.

onlyonekingDom - February 27, 2005 06:01 PM (GMT)
hey jo...can you pack me up and take me with you? >W<

Hestia - February 27, 2005 06:05 PM (GMT)
Kristin, if you can fit in an Eastpak-bagpack, you're more than welcome! <DiE<

onlyonekingDom - February 27, 2005 06:19 PM (GMT)
thanks...hmmm...i guess i better lose some weight and work on my flexibility... <DiE<

Hestia - February 27, 2005 06:50 PM (GMT)
And weak as I am, I'll start weightlifting tomorrow. Not that I expect you to be heavy, but my muscles start to hurt after ten seconds of whipping cream...

onlyonekingDom - February 27, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
<DiE< ...I'll try to not break your back! The last thing we need is for you to end up in a hospital...><()

Use one of those mechanical beaters that has an extension cord and a plug, silly (I have a bit of trouble finding the right words for certain things today. Not having to use my brain actively for a whole week makes it go numb) But you probably know what I mean. It’s a very noisy thing and you can beat or mash or chop heaps of things with it. ><()

meriadoc0412 - February 27, 2005 09:12 PM (GMT)
I've read each book twice in German and once in English.
I like them more than the movies although I think the movies are very good. If only Rupert wasn't THAT young... (&*"£>
Anyhoo, I absolutely love JKR's style of writing and I know that for me 7 books will deffo be not enough <Hissy<

Tigerlily - February 27, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
You're sooo right. About the 7 books being not enough. I just don't want it to end.

Not about Rupert being too young. Personally I'm into the bad guys in the movies. Jason Isaacs (Lucius) and Alan Rickman. Dear god, I could listen to that man talk forever. (BouN) (I love this bouncy smily. It's me)

Knuxs - February 27, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
Thats my main reason that I worry about the ending of book 7...Harry still has a life after Hogwarts so why not talk about it... I'm thinking that maybe he doesnt have a life after book 7. :( Maybe a life and death fight that casues both you know who and Harry to snuff it. *gulps*

Can I just ask, did the LOTRs books cause the same kind of let down with the movies? With LOTRs I'm doing it the other way round and going NOW to read the books, its good because it means the book will create a mental image from the film. With Harry Potter movies all my friends seem to like them and OK they aren’t bad, but I just feel that every scene was part of the main story not allowing for any side developments, ok in parts Harry and Lupin bonded, but it was quickly linked to something about his father being Padfoot etc. <Hissy<

I know is a petty thing, but that’s why I like the books more, not everything is linked in one huge arc, you cant see how things fit together until you read on, but she never fails to tie up a hidden plot i.e. why Percy was being so funny in the COS and its fab that we don’t find out, that its because he has a girlfriend, until the last few pages of the book.

maddy - February 27, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
I agree with ya all!

I think the books are way better! (But the movies give a good mental picture) (Even when they muddle things up like Hagrid's hut and the Forbidden Forest)!!!

What is the 6th book called? And I hope Harry lives (and Ron) la la la!!! But I think everyone is expecting Harry to die in a big showdown with He Who Shall Not Be Named in the last book!!

(Maybe they could make a series all on Harry *after* these 7 books. Like, he could have lost his mind and has to re-discover everything OR ya know, any ideas?) (Rolly)

Tigerlily - February 27, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
Isn't the sixth book called something something and the half blood prince??

Somebody will die in that book (or so I've heard). Wonder who it's gonna be this time. I don't want any of them to die.

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed with Return of the King when I first saw it...I just loved the book so much, and was looking forward to the Houses of Healing, and just more of Eowyn, Faramir, and Merry...I didn't think they were in the movie enough. But I got over it rather quickly and went back to see it 5 more times in the theater. ~Wink~ (and now, everything I wanted to see is in the Extended Edition)

Yep. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince...I wonder who the "HBP" is??? (Hmmmm) hmmm...I don't want anybody to die either, but we know that JK Rowling isn't shy about...er...killing off major and likable characters.

Hestia - March 1, 2005 06:40 PM (GMT)
I don't think there should be more books about Harry after HP7... That's the end of this story - it's the whole purpose of the series to go to the showdown between Harry and Voldemort. After that, Harry is free to live his own life, which is no longer dominated by the threat of Voldemort. Any books or stories about Harry after he leaves Hogwarts are not justified by the seven books that make up his schoollife.
Furthermore, I think it's difficult to make up an interesting story about Harry after his schoollife... I don't think anything can beat the Harry-Voldemort plot.

onlyonekingDom - March 1, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
I agree, Jo...I think that Harry's life after book 7 is best left to the readers' imaginations. For some reason, thinking about this made me think of Gone with the Wind and how some people wanted a sequel...well, someone did write a sequel, but it wasn't Margaret Mitchell...and I have to say, I'd rather forget about that story...it just wasn't the same... Fawkes, where did you find the covers? I love the first one.

Fawkes - April 12, 2005 09:55 AM (GMT)
Not sure sorry :( It was so long ago, it might have been on her website, its great the door only opens on special days and then gives you nice little gifts.

Not long to go now, the days are flying by. Its going to be a long summer. How long do you think it will take to read? How long did it take you to read OTP?

Tigerlily - April 12, 2005 10:36 AM (GMT)
I allowed myself to read only one chapter a day when reading OTP. I just didn't want it to end.
I'm gonna try that again with the half blood prince. Not sure if I can keep it up though. I'm just waaaaaay to excited about it.

onlyonekingDom - April 12, 2005 04:43 PM (GMT)
}C/{ I don't know how you did it, Miranda...I can never hold myself back ><() It took me about 4 days to read OotP I think...and HBP is supposed to be shorter :( , so it'll go by even faster

That was me! Except I read maybe two or three chapters, it was hard as everyone I knew had just read ahead to find out who died so when I found out I was shocked and pleased I'd essacped the spoilers.

It comes out in the UK on the 16th right so will it be out in other countries too? How are you going to get hold of your copy, in the UK shops open at midnight and you can buy it then! I've done that once before and it feels so nice its warm because its Summer and people are all dressed up its great. ><()
