Title: Doctor Who
Description: The NEW Version

Has anyone been watching the current run? I didn't think I'd warm to David Tennant as Chris Eccleston did such a great job but DT is proving to be as good if not better.
Have to say the recent 2 parter was top notch and extremely creepy. I'm so glad they've finally realised that the TARDIS can travel through space as well as time. It was getting a bit trying that all the eps up to that point had been based on/around Earth in various time periods.
Anyway - it'll be interesting to see what the Peter Kay episode is like on Saturday. :thinky:

oh we like david tennent :P not just because he is in fact extreemly gorgeous, but he has the wackiness and flair to make a good doctor, imo he a lot better than christopher eccleson who was a little "normal" to be a time lord.
And yeh, the last 2 parter practically had me hiding behind the sofa! it was very very good! (except for the fact that david tennent spent all of his time walking about in a space helmet for the 2nd part :()
Though the chemistry between the dr and rose is coming on well aswell :)

I like david tennent as THE DOCTOR (and as the Doctor ONLY :teasey: ) much more than CE. I've seen him briefly on some other stuff and he always has the crazy roles :hee:
Think Rose and CE would have been a bit strange and maybe even sick, but with DT it could be suitable
Also found the first season kinda awful, very kiddie based acting and just laughable :hee: ! This season is much more "believeable" i.e the last two parter was kinda scary it was that good!

That's what I forgot to mention before - DT's far easier on the eye than CE!
And the whole Doc/Rose sexual tension thing - there's bound to be a proper snog by the end of this run, surely?!
Fawkes - June 12, 2006 09:57 PM (GMT)
 no snogs "it's a family based show" say critics; A lot of people moaned about the kissing last year and said they didnt find it suitable for children (the supposed target viewer)  i always said if a kiss is needed then they should have it. its kiss not full on sex
dt gets my vote also; but tom baker was a bit of all right too :Wink1:
tom19891 - June 14, 2006 05:19 PM (GMT)
ok (dr who boff) there is a kiss at the end of this series! wooo! and DT is doing the next one aswell :drool1:
so yeh, and also, its not a kids show! that last two parter was far too full on for kids, if they can cope with the devil possessing people and people dying then you think they can cope with a kiss, which is after all a little more to do with real life ;) :P

I just saw
this article on the BBC Dr Who site.
It contains a fairly
MAJOR spoiler so you've been warned!

Anyone watch tonight's ep?
Have to say following on from last week's it was a bit of a disappointment. The fact Rose and the Doctor were in about 5 mins or 10 tops of the episode was what let it down for me.
It was a different concept having the story told from the guest character's perspective but it just didn't seem quite right somehow.
It's also very telling that this was a Russell T Davies-penned episode - despite being "The Boss" a lot of the eps he's written seem to be a missing a certain something.
Maybe I'm just being overly critical, did anyone like it though?

So who watched it tonight then?
It was absolutely brilliant, finally getting to see Torchwood and the return of Mickey and the big reveal at the end was great..
Can't believe after next week it's all over for another year - well except for the special at Xmas. It's going to be interesting to see how they write out Rose though. I hope they don't kill her off cos that'd be such a downer to end the series on.

I did I did!!! Watched it at Tom's last night... OK found some bits hysterical! It was so poor in places it was all you could do not to switch off, but as normal the plot was excellent, and the big show down at the end... ohhhh wonder who didnt see that one coming
Other than that the 45 mins went by very very very fast! So it must have been good.
I think Rose will totally die, they need to end the romance with the Doctor, if she doesnt die the Doc will just be pining for her next season with the "new" assistant taging along. (BTW Could be a male!!!!!! :o :o )

When the giant malteaser opened and the Daleks appeared I just gasped, 'Oooh, you bitch!!' Totally wasn't expecting it. Fantastic! I guessed Mickey would turn up as the alternative universe Cybermen were in the trailers. If they'd come to Earth and Mickey was fighting them then ergo he would follow. And *bang!* he popped up! But the Daleks were a complete surprise.
Who will win? The Cybermen? The Daleks? The Doctor? And how will Rose die? Will The Doctor accidently kill her? Arrrhhhh I can't wait for next week. :dancy:

Don't know if anyone has heard but they've confirmed who the new companion will be.
Here's the official news articleNot sure I'm too keen on the name Martha - it sounds like an old granny's name really.
Interesting to see that she
WON'T be in the Xmas special like a lot of people assumed. It's definitely going to be interesting as the Doc will be on his own then, won't he? :thinky:
I almost forgot - the Beeb's site have been posting daily video teasers for the finale. They're definitely worth a look.
It's only 2 days to go! :hyper:
gmanuk - July 8, 2006 08:22 PM (GMT)
OMG! How brilliant was that finale?! I had a feeling they weren't going to kill off Rose. Didn't make it any less heartbreaking having her leave.
This new girl is going to have a tough job following in Rose's footsteps. Although having said that we all thought the same when DT took over from CE and he's proved to be as good if not better.
I loved the Daleks/Cybermen bitching near the start: "You are only superior at dying". "How many Cybermen are you?" "5 million". "How many Daleks?" "4"! :hee:
Can't believe it's over already! Christmas is going to be a LONG wait, although Catherine Tate being in the episode should be interesting. Although I hope not in the same way as the Peter Kay episode - cos that was the weakest one in this run.
Anyone else watch it?
Strawbs - July 16, 2006 05:46 AM (GMT)
This. Is. Hilarious!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJQHBw_xvBA...ch=doctor%20whoIf you don't know where the music comes from - and firstly, what the hell are you doing with your lives if you don't know already (!!!) - it's from Monty Python's The Holy Grail.
