Title: What sounds relax and calm you?
Description: ..........

Lofty - February 22, 2006 01:15 PM (GMT)
Last night I was watching a TV show and it had a thunder storm in the background and I just remembered how relaxing I find them in real life, rthe gentle sound of falling rain stabbed by the odd distant raw of thunder, all wrapped up in the warm house. Even better when its pitch black out *sighs* I want a thunder storm soon. :)

So thought I'd find out what sounds relax people, is it TV background noise, your car radio, the beach etc

Nice topic!!!

For me, it depends on the situation...
At home when I need to relax it's my cat purring or some melancholic music (like some certain Placebo songs)..

When I'm angry I love to listen to Metallica very loud.. Especially the St. Anger album...

Metallica is scary  :dead: *runs and hides*

Cat purring is AWWWWWWW they know just how to trick or fool their owners :hee: such cunning and sly creatures. I like how they are independent.

Also like air con sounds, because for the last hour I've being listening to one, very calming.

Metallica IS scary!!! But some songs I have to listen to when I need to scream stuff out of myself!

Most of DM's Ultra is nice and calm. NearLY's Reminder is awesome to meditate to. NIN's "A Warm Place," "The Frail," and "La Mer" are great.

In bed, I can ultimately relax to Coldplay's Parachutes album. And also the sound of nothing sooths me when I'm in bed. Although, when I'm at my parents I kind of freak out when I'm in bed, can't sleep, and I can't hear anything because there are just no noises in the countryside.

For me I'd say the sea... some songs do relax me but it depends on my mood, the sea always gets it done. ^_^ (rain is awesome too)

Uhu, rain on the roof is a very calming sound, but it's stressing when you already kinda have to go to the toilet...

I like the sound of the rain the most.
Also when someone is showering.
Or when the tumble dryer is running.
Or possibly NIN.

For me it has to be Damien Rice 'O'. This album is amazing and for me sits at the top along side James Blunt 'Back to Bedlam'. If I want to just sit chill then its def them.

:Musicplay: :musix:

Oooh, I hate that. The pipes are very noisy here, so I can here the water (and air, I think the pipes are filled with air) going through the pipes :(

A thunderstorm while I am in the cosy living-room or bed... FANTASTIC!

A bit of Lemon Jelly or Ulrich Schnauss goes a long way.

rainy days always make me sleepy. And the sound of wind chimes is one of the most soothing things I've ever heard.

I'm seconding them both.. My alarm clock has it on Sleep.. Amazing.

Oh, and for me..Seagulls. LOL. I'm just too used to them, so, maybe it's because it reminds me of home.?

I have one of those sound machines near my bed. Love to listen to the rain falling and mixing it with the light thunderstorm sounds... helps me sleep.
