Board News; February 2006

Stuff Welcomes all you sexy little D and Fers to another new month on Dominic and Friends (We use D and F so much you might forget what it stands for as if!)

Last month was awesome for loads of things, posting was increasing once again after several months of dank depression and a mass of new members joined up. We were also contacted by a group with advanced LOST season 2 details that’s talked about below. The Stuff Comps did really well and as a result Februarys comps will be starting in a few days/weeks, so look out for them. To all the Winners…

A large number of subtle changes also occurred, all listed below:

+ Changed Beach Charlie Background to something darker ("lazy Days").

+ Updated all the LOST epps due to show in the US and added the forums

+ Added two new banners for the upcoming Fire + Water LOST episode which is suppose to be Charlie Centric :hyper:

+ Removed excess clutter around the board, namely the scrolling news box which hasnt been updated in yonks!

+ Added a Paypal button, The board costs money to run, if you want to donate funds even if its only 50p, that would be awesome! :) A huge thanks to Glitter who donated £5 (9 dollars) last week.

+ Re arrange smiles so there is a better selection in the clicky box

+ We used to have a wider choice of text colours, so bringing them back

+ We were getting moans about the large volume of Sub forums which made the board look cluttered. So I’ve merged some together and put others in different areas. Problems? You know what to do!

* Some of the skins are blending or no longer suitable so replacements will be found, The Charlie skin will still remain as default, but as always if you want to change there are almost 10 others to pick from :)


OK that’s the basic round up so more advanced details below.



Banners:

The sexy little things at the top of every page! Art and time donated by members to the board for all to see and make this place hotttttttttttttttter. If you want to add something to the board mix send them all to the boards chosen, who will swoon, guide and love you.

MADDY

900 pixels wide and 350 pixels high That’s the size you should be going for, make it smaller or bigger the board wont care, it’ crush or stretch your works of art, making them scream and look gross looking. You were warned my little tykes!

Like a banner so much you cant stop drooling? Want to hire the artist for your own biddings? Then wave your adorable little mouse over the art and wham there you go the creators name. Awesome.



Board Data

This function has died. I’m sorry but I didn’t really feel it was noticed by anyone really when I didn’t post the whole of last months data up, and it takes to much time to so something that people don’t want.


Dom linkage…

The idea was raised last month, no takers, scrapped. Maybe we will send him a board card for his next birthday.



Calendar

Sometimes its lame, you start a topic and no one bothers to reply. Who’s fault is that? If you want to talk TV/music you can add release dates or air times to the calendar which shows up for everyone to SEE and be reminded! You can do it with other stuff too! TRY IT!


Lost Season 2


Yeahhh we get nice cool spoilers and the “unconfirmed” title of all the episodes and air dates Shussssss it’s a D and F exclusive, does this mean an ABC person has been here? Who knows guess away, we have the goods enjoy them (if you like spoilers lol) the tittles are fine to view and MIGHT be changed at a later date. In the LOST Season Two area if you wanna have a look. The Spoilers for certain eps will be added soon... if you wanna see that.


The 24th of MAY should be the air date of the last eppy, so any maths wiz will know that more breaks are coming our way. Awwww


More members

We want more members, more member’s means more posts, and more posts means a bigger community! So let’s get more members to join. If your willing to post links on journals, mention it in passing to friends who might like Dom, LOST etc (Sometimes you can force them with things too *nods* ) Or if you have ideas, want to submit buttons etc, give us your ideas.


Skins and Adverts

Both were having problems last year, ads rocking around like they owned the place and skins being so lazy it was like the board was covered in cellulite! No more! Ads can go sell there crap to some brainless clinkers, and with a Buffy back slayer in hand the skins are back in line, tight and positively glowing. Now isn’t that nice


STUFF Comps

The Comps did good! More coming along soon! If you want to make your own and donate your own prize to the winner drop me a PM and we will arrange it.



February is a good month, cos fun stuff happens. But remember D and Fers fun stuff can also be fuzzy stuff, fuzz is bad. *nods* Fuzz beware… anyone experiencing Fuzz should fuzz it up in the Fuzz thread. Later Fuzzer lovers/haters

Anybody else up for that? It could be nice to just give eachother lots of love. Especially since nobody in real life is planning on giving me any...anything. Sorry.

I'm all for a let love rule, make love not war, love love love, peace and love theme on valentines. And no, this doesn't always have to be about being with sometody. I can give my love to whomever wants it.

Just a few things...


Pat is no longer a mod, here because of real life being mean and taking hiw time away :( so we've appointed Miranda (Tigerlily) to take his place, thus please PM her if rather than Pat if you have any issues with the boards. :)


Also added a new code that should highlight and turn the forum sections into active links... see screen shot...




Games is BLUE, because the mouse is hovering over that section, it should work on most PC's, feedback would be as always useful.

You are also able to click anywhere on the blue highlight part and it will take you into that forum. :)

I like the highlighting thingy, it works well for me.

The blue stuff works.. the red stuff doesn't ...

All of mine appear as Blue. But that's ok, I like that colour.

Strange... well any better now? If its still not going back to white after your mouse moves off... could you post up a screen shot or something? :thinky: Its a simple code, cant see why any internet programe would have problems following it. :unsure:

This computer (runs on Windows98 and I use Internet Explorer) makes it look nice. I'll see how my own (somewhat slower) computer makes of it.

But the idea is nice

We are still waiting for board upgrade news, and some new Comps are in the works....

Some of the forums have been moved and adapted. A lot of you were saying you wanted the boards to be more streamlined and better looking, so one way to do this was to condense the forums.

i use my lap top and its very wide so the screen always looks messy, banners very small looking. Not sure how many other people have large screens, maybe you could do a poll to see which most people want so the board looks chic


how do i use a diifernt picture for my name ?

If you go to "My Controls" and pick "Edit Avatar Settings" on the left side, you can either upload a picture (max size is 110x110 pixels, if I remember correctly) or you can copy/paste a url from your photobucket/similar photo-hosting site.

And about the screensize: maybe we should check out what screensize our members have. We could also impose limits on sigbar-sizes then, because sometimes they stretch the board so you have to scroll sideways to read messages.
