Title: World Aids Day
Description: December 1st
Hestia - December 1, 2005 01:44 PM (GMT)
As some of you may already know, it's World Aids Day today. I'd like to point out that many HIV-infected and people with Aids need our help, not only today but every day.
I haven't got a ribbon, but luckily Rich provided us with digital ribbons:
(AIDS)
In Holland we have an Art Bag-initiative. Four designers design a bag which goes on sale for 5 euro's. Every last penny of that 5 euro's goes to Stop Aids Now. I am very happy with the Dick Bruna Bag I just bought.
http://www.stopaidsnow.nl/artbagIt's the purple one which has birdies with the red ribbon in their mouths on it. Love it. The Viktor&Rolf one is nearly sold out, I believe. They're hot fashion designers, so naturally everyone wants a bag of them to make a fashion statement. I bought mine to make another statement... and because I love Dick Bruna.

Guys I am so sorry about this! I really wanted to do something on the board maybe have a display ribbon or something to mark the day.... I'm going to look into it right now and we can just have it a little longer than a day or something... Sorry again

I'm gonna buy an art bag too. Don't know which one yet. I think it's a good initiative.
I'm not buying it to make a fashion statement. I never do that. I don't wear my bands because it's fashionable either. I wear them to send out a message. And I will carry my bag to do the same.

Tell me if the Viktor&Rolf Bag is still for sale in Arnhem! Almost every shop I checked in Utrecht (Bijenkorf, Forecast, Bruna) had it sold out.
Oh, did you see Princess Mabel on TV last night? She was holding a speech about Aids/HIV and she was wearing a white blouse by Viktor&Rolf: very recognizable because of the design that's also on the Art Bag.
And Sasha de Boer from the 8'o clock news wore a dark red blazer with a bright red ribbonlike detail.
I think it's really good that those people show their support for the Aids-cause.
Hmm, weird that showing your support for the Aids-cause is related to fashion and fashionable accesoires...

I'll check if the bags are still here. Do you want to know for statistic reasons or others?

We were allowed to wear them at work yesterday, well we would have anyway, it's a nice thing to do.

Statistic. Just interested to see if people all over Holland want Viktor&Rolf more than the others.
I had the last Dick Bruna-Bag btw... Also popular I guess, although I haven't seen anyone sporting an Art Bag yet.
I will use mine today. Yay!

I bought my artbag earlier today
I got the Dick bruna one, it looks more than okay
all the viktor&rolf ones were sold out
they were the most popular beyond a doubt

But the Bruna-one is nice and purple
The material is tough but supple
I love my Art Bag without a doubt
I'll even scream it out loud

I got another Art Bag today. It was the company's christmasgift, with a bottle of wine and a giftcheque from a deparmentstore.
I'm really pleased that the people I work for bought an ArtBag for every employee. Another 80 kids can be born without HIV in Africa.
