Title: The Hawthorne Effect
Description: A.K.A PUSH... A band from uni...
Knuxs - October 7, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)
A really tiny band on the blip of the making it big radar, but one huge band when it comes to outstanding music. Wow PUSH rock  . To be totally accurate they are an indie/slash rock band, but in all honestly indie basically means allsorts when you slash it against another style, the short clips on the site give you an idea of his voice and the bands performance skills both of which have traces of America style. I only came across them via a fluke, in the form of one of the band members hoodie, let’s just saying closer to home than I expected, I think its to strong to say I 'stalked' the web address off his hoddie ;) . Anyway they don’t play very far from home that offen, so don’t expect many of you will be able to see them even if you wanted… but yeah some of the best bands have started small…
The website has some sound clips, lyrics, gig dates etc fingers crossed they get a full album out soon, even it it’s only for the fans.
PUSH Website Just let me know if you like them or what not. :)

i've gotta say, if you are yet to have looked at the push website, do so. you're missing out big time otherwise. have a look even if its just to have a quick gander of the pictures-some lovely ones of ryan are on there (dom lookalike) (woW> like Knuxs said unfortunately many of you will not get the opportunity to see this band perform live, but u never know they could be known worldwide pretty soon. myself and knuxs certainly rate them and are hopin to pop along to a gig asap. (woW>
let us know what you think of Pushand you never know, we may be able to pass your messages on to the lads personally-depends how stalkerish we are feelin :hee:
Welsh Lass!!! - October 11, 2005 07:05 PM (GMT)
I have to agree with knuxs and vixta - push are well cool. I definately think that if they tried hard enough they'd get somewhere.
I also think that the website is good too - definately worth a visit :music:
Lofty - November 9, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
Its Novemeber now and they still havent put any new pictures up. /DOH/
Some of the songs are good, but I have no way to get hold of their full length songs, is there any way you could post them into the request music thread? (bEg) :hugy:
Like the new black look btw
Ryan - December 1, 2005 01:42 PM (GMT)
Hey,
Its always nice to stumle across somewhere like this. I gotta say thank you for your wicked comments, its amazing to think people are enjoying our music because thats the whole reason for doing what we do.
There are a few pretty big changes going on in the PUSH camp at the moment, that is one of the reasons we have not been updating the site very often. Hopefully very early into the new year i will be able to tell you more about whats been going on.
Thank you for your support, it will never be forgotten.

:hee: Now here is me thinking how on earth did you stumble into this little place? *confused face*
Looking forward to the big "news", sounds well good...
OK tottaly random I know but has anyone else ever said you look like Dom Monaghan (Charlie in LOST??) :hee:
Ryan - December 1, 2005 10:05 PM (GMT)
lol. Yeah a few people have said that... also the ryan raynolds from blade 3. Can't complain really, people seem to like them.
Hacky - December 1, 2005 10:13 PM (GMT)
 Yeah you do a little, I'm sure your much better than them in real life because you arent over come with that "I'm better than you" attitude. Yes I have to say I've heard only good things about you Mr Ryan.
Rich, know when we met at London yesterday, well you know what Ross suggested you should do, well I think you should too. :hyper:
I too am a converted fan of Push! Everyone hear me now I am a addict! :Wink1:
Ryan - December 1, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
Yeah i hope so. Thanx for becoming a fan...
You'll all have to come and watch us soon
Hacky - December 1, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
I really wish I was able to, but the whole distance thing kind of puts a dampener on the whole thing, if you ever play down south :Wink1:
Can I just clear something up. Your at university, but really go for the band playing stuff at the same time. Is it your music or your degree which is focal to you? Dont think I'm being rude, but you look older than 20, are you a mature student or something?
Oh you dont have to answer this if you dont want to, but do you get paid to do gigs or are you doing them for free to build up a fan base?
Tigerlily - December 1, 2005 10:44 PM (GMT)
I'm enjoying myself on the push website. Listening to the demo's, checking out the pictures........playing with that 8888 thingy. When you go over it with your mouse it says PUSH. haha, I keep going back and forth 8888, push, 8888, push. Hee, I could do that for hours.
And Rich sent me the link to Am I forever. I really like it. I've listened to it three times in a row now.
I love discovering new bands and I'll be looking forward to hearing more from you. Although I must note that I live FAAAARRRR away *makes some big hand gestures, suggesting fare awayness* so I will probably never see you live. Hmmm, how do you feel about Holland?
Ryan - December 1, 2005 10:49 PM (GMT)
Hey, thats ok. Yeah we get paid (not much tho, lol).
If i am quite honest the band is much more important to me then uni. i cant wait to leave. Next year (summer) hopefully the band will really start to take off. Any fans we've gained before then is a bonus.
Is that what u mean?
Ryan - December 1, 2005 10:52 PM (GMT)
ps. the 'backstage' songs are only REALLY rough (and live) as they were just recorded in my living room and bedroom etc... but its cool if u like them.

I have to say that it's one of my fave Push songs to date. :red: And if you think its rough now... I cant wait to see it after it's been studio mixed.
I think leaving uni will be fun sometimes, others it's too scary to even think about , but if you have a plan like it sounds you have then I suppose its something to look forward to. And if things go tits up your always have a degree.. Wont be forgetting Bigsy's sexy laugh  Such a inocent looking man too...
There was one thing I always forget to ask you, and that's why 'Push' as a name for a band? Does it have any special meaning or is it just a 'word'...
Ryan - December 1, 2005 11:04 PM (GMT)
No reason really. Me and the mat both saw it on a door at the same time and thought 'yeah', you know? But seeing as you are asking...
shhh, but we are looking for a new name at the mo so if anyone has any ideas?? It needs to be two words.

Cool, that's good enough for me.
:red: Firstly I thought you were one of those bands that just use it to sleep with fans  , but I think from your answers and your honestly that it's more than that a real deepness with the cruxs of music. That's refreshing :)
Just had a talk on MSN, and we think that perhaps someone has been spotted by a label/scout or something *pokes pokes* :Wink1:
I think "Look alikes" is a good name  No I'll have a think, but I'm sure your have some ideas already.
Ryan - December 1, 2005 11:21 PM (GMT)
LOL. nice try but not yet. You'll find out soon enough... it'll probably be a let down now i've hyped it up! Not that major, but it maybe. At the moment it may still not happen so...
Who knows.
I personally think the best song we have is one called 'Million Miles'. Its a ballard we've got that has not been recorded yet but everytime we play it we get a massive reaction. It has a lot or feeling and hopefully we'll be able to get that feeling onto the cd when we record it over christmas.
Lofty - December 2, 2005 10:06 AM (GMT)
Dont know where to start, kind of shocked that you are here. How did you find it? Did you google PUSH or something, I'm having a weird day, one of the strangest ever feels dream like, so your excuse me if this makes no sense.
If we wanted to get hold of your songs how could we go about that?
Also how can we be sure you really are The Ryan? Any evidence :hee: I'm sure there are some die hard Push fans out there. :Wink1:
Hestia - December 2, 2005 10:25 AM (GMT)
I believe Tigerlily and I can start a Dutch fangroup: you got me at the first demo I listened too. Really like the music, go you!
What are you studying at uni, btw? Is it something music-related or just something completely random that you are willing to set aside when the band becomes more of a succes?
Oh, and I like Push for a name... Wouldn't have a clue why you'd want to change it. But if you're interested in a two word-name, why don't you consider Push Play, still has the Push in it :hee:
Lofty - December 2, 2005 10:41 AM (GMT)
 That's very good "Push Play" I like the name Push too, its simple, easy to remember and FUN. Fun is always good!
If you truly need a new name, I once read about how sometimes people just pick two random words out of a book and use those as the band name.
Does it take a lot of guts to sing to so many people. Silly question maybe. :flyflyfly: But how do you cope with it all, everyone watching you for mistakes and things. There is 4 of you up there but your getting the attention from the majority.

 classic.
Well I can vouch for him if that's any good? Not sure how else you could prove it... :thinky:
I'm adding my like of the name; "PUSH" its just a simple word that has so many meanings, on the old site the browser had clever little phrases on them stuff like "Push forward not back"
It's simple and doesnt coat the band or music in any crappy gloss, it just is, and that's all you need.
Rosie - December 2, 2005 01:16 PM (GMT)
wow. we have a celebrity...GO US *high fives all round*

ps. new name...The Pushers....how original...=/
Ryan - December 2, 2005 02:11 PM (GMT)
Hey. ok, so many questions lol. Its all good tho.
Ok. Well i do still get nerves performing in front of an audience but that makes it all worth while. When u come off stage just knowing u survied is a brilliant feeling. If the show goes well u will never forget it.
I personally remember different things about gigs. This may sound ramdom but i remember things such as the tone of the mic, or a particular person in the crowd, or a well hit note that gives me a chill down my spine. So much goes on while we are on stage that the audience does not know about. The band has conversations which may last the whole set and we have different looks we give each other for the times we cannot speak.
Secondly, someone emailed the band with a link to this site. That is how i found it, no self searching on google, lol. Its always good to see what people are writing (even if its bad). It either boosts your confidence or motivates u through disapointment.
About getting hold of some tracks- we can always post cds to anyone if you email us your address and tell us what u would like. alternatively i'm sure we will be putting some full lengh songs on the site soon which u should be able to download for free.
The name 'PUSH' has been ok for a start but as we progress we have found more bands using a similar name to us so really we just want something totally original. It is hard to find a name which we feel will match the music we are playing. There are a few ideas we have knocking around but keep the ideas coming.
Finally, yeah this is really me. lol. If you want me to prove it some way i will but i'm not quite sure how i can...
speak soon,
Ryan
Welsh Lass!!! - December 2, 2005 03:54 PM (GMT)

Great. So this CD at christmas is a album type thing? Are you going to charge? I wouldnt mind paying :hee:
Have an idea about the "proof" thing, stole the idea off Maddy and Rosie, crazy ozies that they are :hugy:
Its easy, you write on a bit of paper or yourself something like "I'm Ryan on D and F" and then take a picture of yourself with it and post it here. A few people in here know what you look like because you go to uni with them so they can confirm. How does that sound?
I'm stealing an example from "the picture of us" thread... thank you sexy Rosie :Wink1: :

Thanks for the clarity, Ryan. You just never know with what kind of people you are dealing. But you seem to be authentic. If only I could pinch you... :hee:
Vixta - December 3, 2005 01:13 PM (GMT)
Ryan, i've gotta ask, what is your tattoo of?? also, do push ever go in for competitions at the uni like battle of the bands??
Ryan - December 4, 2005 02:51 PM (GMT)
It says 'Everything' ...Its a song by lifehouse. I don't think there will ever be a song as beautiful as this ever written again. I think the words and the feeling of the song is just amazing, something to be remembered.
Vixta - December 4, 2005 03:05 PM (GMT)
yeah i know the one you mean and fair play to ya, it is an awesome song..good choice!

It's good. Lot's of feeling, although I find that with a lots of Lifehouse songs, bet its the most popular song of theirs but 'hanging by a moment' does it for me. :Wink1:
:red: re reading this thread it seems we have been hounding you a little with questions and I know I've been doing it else where too. *hangs head in shame* (On that note you should have a little flashing red thingy on your control panel towards the top of the screen, or in other words... you have mail)
Is there anything you want to ask us?

RANDOM! :NahNah:
Think Ryan is quite a tasteful sort of guy
So its boxers unless it’s all kinda one big lie
We know you love lots of different bands
But how much do you love your hands?
Happy Sinterklaas all Push Fans!!
(Hence the crazy Rhymes)
Hestia - December 5, 2005 07:49 PM (GMT)
Go Rich, he really learns quick
Just hold on, and see him grab the mic
For Sinterklaas brings up the best in everyone
Like transforming from a ugly duck into a swan
Okay, so part of this rhyme didn't really rhyme
Come on, read along and give me some time
To present myself as a songwriter to our Ryan
I think I'll call this A Song for a Lion.
I fear this change of future won't set foot
My rhymes are easy and not real good
I'll leave the songwriting to Push's singer
And forgive me if I'll stick around and linger
(for as others have expressed in other words before
I wouldn't complain if Ryan came knocking on my door)
