Board News week 32 and 33, 25th of September to the 9th of October


Two board news combined this week. This might become the norm from now on, there isn’t really a need to have weekly updates with the current number of members and recently posting sats. So have a vote in the above poll and we will see how things turn out. :)


Banners:

The bigger size seems to be going down well. So I’m going to add some of the ones Maddy has been sent. There hasn’t been enough to open up a poll so if you get some in now it will skip the voting and “win” whatever. When you have one send them to this girl MADDY.

900 pixels wide and 350 pixels high!!!!!!! If you make them smaller/bigger I will try and put them up but the further they are out of the size listed above the less good they will look. Most art programs give you a choice of sizing in pixels, if you really cant get it to work then ask Maddy and she will hook you up with someone who can help you resize. :dkiss:

One final thing they DONT have to be all Dom based... this place is called Dominic and FRIENDS... so if you want a Harry Potter/Sin city/MITM/Lost/Billy! one etc, make it! And show it off

Its coming soon, if you have any ideas for this great holiday then get them up, it would be nice to do something for that day…

Lost season 1

Downloading or sharing files is technically illegal, but it’s incredibly simply to do, many argue that it’s an attack on capitalist society, one which charges you say £70 for a season that costs maybe £2 to make, sure they have overheads and sure its only fair that the companies make some profit, but is making £30 – 50 quid a DVD too much? Board news isn’t the place for such philosophical conversations :hee: , but if you want to start a thread with the hypothetical understanding of how downloading works and can be accessed by anyone with a computer and thus be able to watch the entire first season before it airs then feel free to start one.

D and F will play no part in promoting such activities. We feel that crime including extortionists, greedy fat cats being able to live and Dom bashers should all be punished where it hurts the most.

Lost Season 2
So far we have had two episodes and both have been discussed in the new area, so that’s great news, keep it up and share the love of Lost.

Located in YOU, out of the way although they don’t seem that popular, they aren’t in the way and its being used if only by a few people, thus for the foreseeable future they are fixed. The password to that is located about the board, if you can’t find it and want to either read what members have been up to or want to start one yourself, PM a Moderator or get it from the Hidey hole

MITM has been mixed with Harry Potter, simple; Mr Potter doesnt have a year round appeal so it needs some more topics, if you have something that you want to have its own combined section let me know. Its also been suggested that Fan Fiction joins with General Muti, I dont see this as a problem and if there are no objections... :thinky:

If you want to talk about MITM it would be best to start up your own topics for each season, Granted there are FEW spoilers, but like the Simsons things do happen that gets talked about. For example after the first few seasons Francis leaves his special school etc make use of it :YES:



Medals

Who wants them? You get them placed near your profile data so near your avy, post count etc. Any ideas for what you get medals for? Or are you willing to make some (small maybe 20 by 20 pixels max) then post up some ideas here or PM one of the D and F team. Last week this seemed quite popular, so I’m going to spend sometime looking for a way to get them working, have a think about what you would like to do before we can earn them. I’ll be asking for your ideas In a few weeks.



Pop Up’s

GONE?? They have on my computer, and it looks like the cause was quite a useful function, oh well. If you didn’t use it before then you won’t notice anything different. It’s all good.

Upgrade news

None. Nuff Said. Few upgrades over the coming weeks so board might be offline for a while.

The board really is slow, I hoped the new LOST season would bring back discussion, but it's not really. Best thing we can do is make it as pleasurable as possible *wipes dust of sofas and shakes some pillows*.

Weekly is good, but if you want to do it monthly thats fine too, like you said before you can just add important stuff in the current news section. :)

I just had an idea. Since we have big banners now. Would it be nice to have some kind of board slogan. Something catchy and fun to put on the banners.

OK added some new banners :hee: some of them are funny, well I laughed, classics in the making I think. As soon as we reach a peak it will be down to a vote... lets try and limit them to 7 tops this time. :Wink1:

OK that's it, everything else is good... (so far this weeks post count is doing much better than before)

and I got extremely taken by some kind of banner fever...... lol
