there isnt a topic for this :o I found this a good episode, watched it last night when it was repeated. So Kate was the bad one I never saw that coming, and then they gave her the gun! :o

The mucis at the end was funny, I kept thinking that he had better watch his battery life on his walkman.

Kate and Jack are good fun to watch, are they the kind of main cast who are best of friends but never get it on? Have to wait. :bounce: Its fun fun fun.

I really enjoyed this episode, after the first two film like things this had really clamed down a fair bit, it was addictive but not OTT, you got the first flashback off the plane and really had a feeling that what was to come was a series with an amazing amount of potential.

Kate on the run… I wonder what she did, I think the police dude following her was involved far to much to be just doing his job, he seemed really obsessed with her it was scary, then he tried to strangle her, I’m thinking that maybe, she killed one of his family by accident or something, because I cant see Kate being a bad person, then again LOST is full of weird twists who knows :thinky: … and the ironic part is that its suppose to be a fresh start but everyone there is haunted by a past.

Also I like how the twist at the end works, Jack the all round good guy, kills someone.

It’s the title of the episode that’s so important. Yes a John Locke was a philosopher, but again people are missing the irony of the title “tabula rasa” the real philosopher proposed it for people being born into the world, not for people who were already living in it. That’s the beauty of the title, it suggests a “new start” but in reality that’s never going to happen, each and everyone of the characters have a history, a past, they will never have a “blank slate”. Which is why the scary Locke face is so cool, its right at the end and its like he is saying it; "everyone has a secret, none of us will have a fresh start here" right after the happy parts when everyone is smiling and helping each other.... its very clever.

It can also be linked to Kate, i.e she has a fresh start because Jack doesnt want to know what she did. So many meanings, I love the titles! :hyper:

Wow, yeah it all makes sense to me now. I had been so puzzled. Tabula Vasa, Locke. It is also about America though too. John Locke was one of the main intellectuasl founders of America. And America always claimed to be a tabula vasa for the human race. Indeed this has been one of the things that has been so irritating about it. Lost kind of is post 9/11 and it kind of saying that the US has gotta grow up a bit and sort itself. Because human beings can kind of end up up the spout like everyone on LOst has done.

'Course this makes Dommo's role in this all the more interesting. He is a Brit, so of the old world but he is lost too like America.

Hells Bells that's my pennyworth. I am quite new to this Lost thing. But I am hooked. I love Dommo too. Wow
