Dom on Religion Thread

In my eyes its been a very enjoyable thread to take part in with a interesting discussion that has a differing set of views its certainly different to a thread that is only one sided. Personally I’d like to thank everyone who has participated in a mature manner, its certainly more productive than slinging insults around.

I’d just like to add that which ever side you support, please don’t violently insult beliefs that you cant prove are false, this applies to either argument.


Lost Area
It’s coming up to that time of year again! Lost is due to hit the American shores in oh about 40 days! So if you have any season two talk, spoilers, shared excitement please post in the season two area, and not one.

The first 3 eppy titles of the new season of Lost have been added to the drop down menu and now have their respective forums, so post in them when you have some specific eppy talk. :thank1:

Recruitment

More members are always nice I think, it allows for more traffic and therefore more things to talk about. If you have any ideas of how to either attract more people here or ways to advertise the board, please feel free to post them here so we can discuss them or drop me a PM with any ideas you might have.

Skins

The default has changed to the Charlie skin, the other can still be found in the skin chooser drop down menu. Any problems please as always alert myself in this weeks board news.

No spoilers in your siggys or elsewhere on the board please! There is an area for that kind of thing so please use that.

Upgrade news

As per normal lots of guess work and rumours, but I am unable to confirm anything at this time. The upgrade should allow for some more modifications to the board, and perhaps some of the current ones will no longer be viable. Still have to wait and see.

This week we aren’t too early! We are indeed 6 months old. So congrats everyone. (woW>

21,070 posts in 6 months means; 3511 posts per month; (roughly) 877 posts per week; with 125 posts per day.

In the week I got asked a question which was should we have a "birthday" thread for D and F and share our feelings and happy times etc. :hee: If you have any post them here if you want that's fine, but I'll be saving things for when we are one years old. It was a nice thought tho so thank you! :thank1:

My default is still blue, and whenever the page changes Charlies large face flashes on the screen. scaryyyy.

It doesn’t work on Fire fox, or in fact any other browsers that aren’t IE :devil2: .

I’m confused about the style sheet tho, it should work for all. The default skin is CHARLIE, which means it will always upload first before any other skin you might have chosen, so if you have a fast PC you wont notice the Charlie skin at all, if its slower bits of it might creep in.

The skins work with cookies, so it remembers which you have chosen, it might be worth editing your cookie settings to allow D and F ones to be remembered. :thinky:





OK if anyone enters D and F via www.dandf.org they will come to the portal or “homepage” its easy enough to get into the forums… its also easy enough to avoid that place full time by ensuring that the URL is this http://dandf.org/index.php? Basically you get that every time when you in the forums so if you just book mark it it will be simple. :Wink1:

So why the “homepage” then?

Over time I plan to get it updated with Dom and Lost news, its only a very basic news area. This summer I thought I would have time to set up a fully interactive website to accompany D and F, but its proving to be incredibly difficult and the sole factor is time, I just don’t have the time! :craze1: this next year. It’s my most important year at uni and I won’t be able to spend hours searching out information, thus there will be much better news sites out there.

That said I still plan to get it complete with Stacey’s help, and have it as a resource site. Maybe a little each week will turn in into an excellent resource for static news/graphics etc. So if I’ve asked you for help in the past I still want it :hyper: ! You just have more free time or longer to do it :Wink1: . And if your willing to give up some of your time to help please feel free to drop me a PM. (Rolly)

The portal/homepage thingy shouldn’t be a problem, still a vote next week with decide.... Meanwhile any feedback you might have post it up for all to see.

I think its a good idea. :unsure: You could put news up that guests can see. i dont know, it looks good and its not to hard to click the button that says "forums" and just come here like normal.

I like how it welcomes you and give you details about who is online and when you were last online, as well as showing the new posts. That's really important on a forum this size, you can view quickly what you have missed.

August 12th (Friday) with 150 posts was the best day this. (Almost half of last weeks best day) The worst day was August 13th (Saturday) with 48 posts this is the second week that Saturday is the worst day. A difference of 102 posts with the average post count per day reaching 88 (28 DOWN from last week.)


A random distribution of numbers this week, the only noticeable think was Saturday performing worse for another week in a row.

This is a 24% decrease on lasts week’s postings, placing this week 12th out of 20 weeks of chart data. With this week 375 posts below the top weeks posting.


Subjective Interpretation (My view only)

Cant really think of anything. Maybe weird looking cats with nasty sharp claws jumped people and bit them, stopping people getting to the computer as they tried to stop the bleeding, then they had to all get jabs. Think you can do better? Post it up.

Wow, 6 months, hard to believe it's been that long. I haven't had the chance to be here much, have been here briefly the last couple of days. ;)

Everyone was saying how their default was now Charlie. And mine was still stuck on that blue splodge one. Mine changed to Charlie for about a day. Now its back to the blue splodge.

Just thought Id share.

Rosie can you see the skin changer? Its in the top left hand corner, you should be able to select a skin from there and if it doesnt stick keep doing it until it does. The default is Charlie, so any people coming here for the first time, or if the skin you have selected cant be loaded, the Charlie will be shown instead.

I cant see how this would be a problem with something like Firefox :thinky: , because the skin thingy works with cookies... i.e everytime you come here if you havent logged out you shouldnt have to log back in. The only problem I can see is that you might not be able to see the skin changer in the first place. <lol>

yeah there's no problem with FireFox. yeah if my computer freezes (which it does, just to spite me) i can just open up D&F again and i am still logged in; which is good.

i can see the skin changer thing. all is good.

Recruitment is a great idea. I put a link to this place on my LJ. (just in case somebody who loves Dom wanders in) It would look a lot nicer if I had a picture thingie like the ones on the bottom of the page.
Hmmm, somebody would have to explain to me what the code is to make that work. But it would be nice.

Rosie!!!! Why on Earth do I think you have firefox then :o :hee: ?? You always seem to have problems getting on the board whenever I add a new dynamic code to the board wrappers… are you using internet explorer?? Maybe it’s Katie who uses firefox :thinky: … ahhh I don’t know :dum:. I can’t explain your problem either then. Anyone got some ideas? :blah:
