I love reading. I really do. It's just that I never know which books are good. So tell me what you've read or what you're currently reading. And tell me what you think of the book.

I'm reading a Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy right now. It's on of the funniest books I've read in a long time. It cracks me up. I don't know the dude who wrote this but bless him.

maddy - August 8, 2005 11:08 AM (GMT)
<lol> i haven't read that one yet, but i shall.

I LOVE READING! its just, i can't live without it, you see. hehe... well i just read The Lace Makers Daughter by Gary Crew and it was good.

Hestia - August 8, 2005 08:02 PM (GMT)
Chronicles of Narnia. Loved it!

I'm starting in Angels and Demons now. My sister has Angels&Demons and The Da Vinci code so I'm plundering her bookcase in stead of she plundering mine. She's reading my copy of The Half Blood Prince right now. Though I expect she's finished by now... She was halfway yesterday when I left her with it.

superfreakgirl86 - August 17, 2005 04:14 PM (GMT)

Hestia - August 23, 2005 07:44 PM (GMT)
Still reading Angels and Demons. I can't bring up enough energy to read long passages in one go, so it takes me quite a while to read it.

earendil - August 25, 2005 04:30 PM (GMT)
I've just finnished Dancing with the uninvited guest by Julia Wallis Martin. I've read it before but it was still brilliant!

What on earth are ya reading a book on the rules of golf for? :lollol:
It sounds boring. Golf is fun though. Especially tee-off. Try to hit the ball as hard as you can and then miss :devilgriner: . Good times.

Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern. It's such a sweet book about two friends Alex and Rosie, who've been best friends since their first day of school, and the whole book is letters, IM conversations, email, text messages, etc, between them, their friends and their families, except for the last chapter, which is as a normal story. It's all about how they're meant to be together from the beginning and is absolutely full of near-misses and irony, so much that you just want to tear your hair out! But yeah, it's a really good book.

Hestia - September 9, 2005 08:45 AM (GMT)
Angels and Demons. Finally finished it last weekend. I'm reading the Philosophy Files now, it's children's book that introduces some moral and philosophical issues. It's easy to read, yet quite deep. Perfect traintrip material. Plus, others will think you're very intellectual when you're reading a book called The Philosophy Files

Ruby - September 9, 2005 01:51 PM (GMT)
Terry Pratchet ~ Discworld Equal Rites :D

Awesome

Tigerlily - September 14, 2005 11:28 AM (GMT)
I'm reading angels and demons. Just started it. I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting book.

Is the philosophy files the same as de wereld van sofie? I started that. I like it. I like thinking about all the things that's discussed in the book but I thought it took to long for the story to begin so I stoped reading.

Ruby - September 26, 2005 07:44 PM (GMT)

Read the final chapters of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, started somewhere around the 200th page of HP and the Order of the Phoenix again, and have started in Writing Dialogue for Scripts. So recreative and some self-teaching.

I finishes Artemis Fowl yesterday, and am reading Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident now. I've nearly finished that, and then I'll go on to book 3, which I believe is The Eternity Code.

I absolutely love the Artemis Fowl books.

oooh I remember reading one of the books, but then I stopped because the next one hadn't come out yet. So only book one is read thus far. They are good.

At the moment, I am reading The Tommyknockers by Stephen King. Hasn't gotten to the scary parts yet, but you can just tell somethings just around the corner. oooooo

meriadoc0412 - February 10, 2006 09:38 PM (GMT)
I'm reading a book titled "A long Way down" at the moment.... Here's what it's about:

"A long Way down" by Nick Hornby

New Year's Eve on the roof of a skyscaper: tough look that four people at once have decided to commit suicide there. As you cannot kill yourself very well while others are watching, the strange group decides to descend the roof in order to solve the problem of their youngest member, who doesn't know why her boyfreind broke up with her. Little by little they tell each other and the reader their stories. There is old-virginal Maureen whose son is highly handicapped and who has to cope with this burden alone; there's Martin, the famous talk master who no one wants to see on TV any longer after he got out of jail; Jess, the rebellious daughter of a politician is so direct that she offends every one, and JJ, who was abandoned by his best friend, the singer of the band he used to be in: the four people decide to adjourn the final jump until Valentine's Day - and that is how those people who could not be more different find each other and still can help each other in a very peculiar way..."

I haven't finished it yet, but I really love it..
Especially Jess :die:

So, if you ever read it,

ENJOY IT!!!

Hestia - February 11, 2006 01:09 PM (GMT)
Oh, Nick Hornby is a good author. I should deffo check him out.

I've just finished the fourth Artemis Fowl-book by Eoin Colfer. And because I love his style and the fifth Artemis-book isn't available yet, I went to the library to get two other books he wrote. It's childrens scifi/fantasy, often with extraordinary smart people or situations.

BTW, didn't we already have a book-topic or thread? I'll look into it, maybe we can combine it or something.

meriadoc0412 - February 12, 2006 10:04 PM (GMT)
I thoght we did have one.. But I couldn't find it ... :red:

Hestia - February 14, 2006 09:01 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I couldn't find it either. Maybe we got confused with another board...

Anyways, we seem to be the only readers here. I finished The Supernaturalist and The Wishlist by Eoin Colfer last weekend. Maybe I'll check the library this afternoon to find a new book. Will be difficult to have time to read when I really start university again. But until the pace on academic literature-reading quickens, I should be able to read for fun.
