Title: Speculation for the next book
Description: what do you think will happen, and why?

Meriagrin Brandytook - August 7, 2005 08:20 PM (GMT)
Ok, we seem to be getting into discussions about the next book, so lets have a place to discuss it.

This thread WILL contain spoilers from the previous 6 books

Ok, that out of the way, here's some of the stuff I've come across.

1. Ginny Weasley - JKR has said that Ginny will be important in the next book, my hubby and I have come across evidence that she is the 7th child of a 7th child (I know it's usually more specific, as in 7th daughter of a 7th daughter, but it could still be significant) she is also the first Weasley daughter in 7 generations. Previously there'd only been sons.

2. Godric's Hollow - Harry is likely going to return to Godric's Hollow, where his own story began and his parents' ended. I have a strong feeling that there is a major significance in him being born in Godric's Hollow. - think Godric Gryffindor

3. Slytherin's pendant - is it in the Black house, and will Harry realise?

4. Wormtail - Harry saved Wormtail's life, and created a bond with him that could see Wormtail helping him unexpectedly and when no-one else can.

Can you think of any others?

I don't get the 7th child of the 7th child thing...Is Arthur the 7th child in his family?? Because Molly only had two brothers (who were murdered by Death Eaters)...

1. Harry or Voldemort will die, or both.....that's one thing that's for sure..

2. When they were filming the third film, the director wanted to show the audience a piece of Hogwarts that hasn't been showed yet...Rowling didn't want this..because she said it would be a great spoiler for the final book...I guess (although I still think it would be weird) that James and Lily are burried somewhere near Hogwarts...

3. We will get to know why Sirius died...this makes me think that Sirius still has some role to fullfill, which he only can do when he's dead....

I agree on the Wormtail thing...he has some bond with Harry, although we don't know when or why he will leave the Dark Lord...probably at the final battle...

I believe that Harry will fight Voldemort alone...although friendship is a very strong power in the book, I believe that the final fight/dual/confrontation with Voldemort will be between only Voldemort and only Harry...

My apologies, I have checked another source of info (a much better one) and you are right, Molly only had the 2 brothers, and apparantly, no sisters, and Arthur, also, only had 2 brothers. (previous source of info now marked as unreliable)

I am curious as to what will happen when H and V battle, as their wands will refuse to fight again. They'll join again, one of them will need a different wand to make the battle possible.

I didn't even think of that..you're right...they will have priori Incantadem again...hmm..I doubt it that either Voldemort or Harry will get a new wand...Olivander is gone (as we have read in the last book)..and Olivander said in the first book: the wand chooses the wizard..

Quite curious to think about that....great point you have there..they can't fight each other now....

Maybe they kill each other in a non magical way? One of them will probably use another wand. Borrow one. I mean Neville used his dad's wand for the first couple of years (hmmm, maybe that's the reason he wasn't really good at anything)

IloveDommie - September 6, 2005 03:46 AM (GMT)
I think Neville will probably be playing a key role in the next story, seeing as he is still being speculated as the 'chosen one' no matter how unlikey, i also think there might be something more to the story, and something more about the whole prophecy thing...

It will depend on how JK plays it, does she want more mystery and shocks like lost has for example, or everything to be nicely summed up. Every book past number 3 we have had tons of information about the magical world, it would be a good idea to have a good ending rather than just be all up in the air. Back to my first point, I dont have a clue what she plans to write.

Myself and Tom were talking about this late last night and I think we had some good ideas! :hee: (well maybe not you decide)

We tried to work out what the Horcruxes are, because it seems likely the book will be based on Harry and co travelling around the country/world tracking them down. Harry has lots of money etc so no need to write in money problems....

So there is likely to be 7…

1. Riddles Diary (Has been dealt with)

2. Marvolo’s ring (Been dealt with)

3. The Locket, which is widely believed to have been moved by R.A.B and it seems that R.A.B is Sirius brother, so could be in the old Black house, or with Mundungous (sp) who was stealing things from the house.

4. Hufflepuff’s Cup

5. Something from Ravenclaw

6. And to complete the 4 house “link” something from Gryffindor, which creates something of a problem… the sword is the only known relic and we know that to be safe.

7. The 7th part of his soul belongs still in Voldemort (As Dumbledore tells us on P470 UK edition)

So what is the 6th part if its not Gryffindor… either one Nagini the snake, two something else which we will find in book 7 or three its Harry himself!

Support for this:

It’s possible Harry is somehow related to Godric Gryffindor, after Voldemort heard the prophecy he thought it wise to ensure it couldn’t come true by forcing part of himself into Harry and thus Harry is unable to fully kill Voldemort unless Harry Dies first, which means the prophecy cant come true i.e Voldmort cant die, if Harry remains alive because part of him will still live on in Harry's body (remember he saw Harry as the only threat to his invinciblity)… but why not just kill Harry right off to stop the prophecy?

Voldemort was still at least one Horcrux short of his goal of 6 when he entered your parents house with the intention of killing you

It’s likely that the Horcrux was ready to be made the night Voldemort went to the Potter house, because he killed Harry’s father than his mother, perhaps he did intend to kill Harry and make number 6 with Harry’s death, but his mothers protection rebounded the curse somewhat, in a crippled state Voldemort split his soul and placed the 6th part into Harry before going to ground…

Harry is linked to Voldemort, they share similar traits, perhaps transferred in the “creation” etc

Against it:

It’s kinda crazy! Lol, we can’t be sure Voldemort managed to get something of Ravenclaw anyway, so it’s pointless him trying to make a “set” of the houses, we also can’t know for sure that Harry is related to Gryffindor. Horcruxs also don’t do well in live beings… "Because they can think and move for themselves", it would still be much simpler to just kill Harry.

It would also mean Harry would HAVE to die in the 7th book, and that ending although noble seems kind of sad for a “children’s” book.

What does everyone else think?

In other news book 7th release date has been speculated to be… 7/7/07!!!! Oooh spooky, lol, although the film is expected a few weeks later so not too sure that a release would happen that close together…

Also still sticking with the idea that Snape isnt truly a death eater :hee:
