I havent been able to see it this week, so I'm relying on everyone to give me a blow by blow account of what happend last night (bEg) . Did they find Kate? The title is Adrift so maybe its only focus is on the people from the raft. BUT this is lost and the unnatural bias towards Jack means he wont be hidden for long  (I.m guessing anyway)
i_heart_Dom - September 30, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
well the episode was michaels flashbacks.
well the episode wasnt like continued from the last one. it was basically just what demond did with kate and locke before jack came down there.
and they showed michael and sawyer on the raft.
Knuxs - October 1, 2005 06:37 AM (GMT)
It was much better than that! Right at the end the people on the boat made it back to the Island (Mike, he's new name, and Sawyer) Then Jin came running towards them all tied up and screaming, next thing you see it loads and loads of new people coming towards the 3. Then after that they showed short clips of the next episode and you could see that GIRL JACK WAS TALKING TO In Exodus before he got on the plane. So these could be more people from the plane crash. :hyper:
Jack was in it, but it was only old stuff from last week (woW> You saw, like Katie has already said, what happened to Locke and Kate when they went down the hatch, and it all came together. It was VERY Alias like. See the end before the start etc.
It was good. :hyper:

Ooooh, no, the tension!
I thought this episode was very well built up, although I was a bit confused when you saw bits of the previous episode. I was utterly shocked about the shark, and the fact that Sawyer was bleeding, but he has become one of my favourite character, especially after he caught a bullet and when he asked Michael (oops, nearly typed Michel there...) if he was okay when he was crying about Walt. I think the man is slowly breaking his shell to reveal a beautiful butterfly (ok... Sawyer as a butterfly is actually quite a scary thought...)
I was laughing out loud when Kate realised she was trapped in a pantry, and I nearly fell out of my chair when she saw the candy. Too cute! But I thought the candybars would be out of date... she enjoyed them a bit too much to be mouldy chocolate. So I guess Desmond does have some sort of line with the outside world and he does get fresh food...
Then the numbers again: are they the password to stop the icebear and all of the machinery? And what was it about "Are you him?" "Yes I am"... Locke does think highly of himself, doesn't he?
I was very glad when Jin came running towards Sawyer and Mike. He was out of sight ever since the raft exploded, but I guess he has grabbed on to the boat Walt was on, and has returned to the island. But what were all those hunters about! They freaked me out!
Anyways, Lost has really grabbed my attention again. I'm trying to download every new episode as soon as I can find it online, so I can be up to date. Why wait until it airs on my local tvstation? Then I have to wait another year!
Rich, where do you download it? I'm big friends with Kazaa Lite at the moment. I downloaded this episode in about 5 mins, thanks to my glassfiber network (1000kb/s)
Knuxs - October 1, 2005 07:19 PM (GMT)
:o Downloading! That's totally illegal and just wrong. We should never talk about it on D and F ever again or your be cast away or tied up like Jin and whacked with anti downloading sticks. :Wink1:
Still we can have a hypothetical talk about it... :thinky: lets see if I were to downlaod Lost, I think I would use some form of Bit Torrent, if you want to investigate Google is your friend. Glassfiber that sounds intriging what's that about?
I dont think I saw Kate Eating anything :o Maybe I should watch it again. :hee:
It was nice to not see any (new) Jack for once cos boy is that getting old. It was true Alias stylee the way the story unfolded, I wondered if he would go down that route... guess as he works on both shows he will transfer his ideas.
As for the Locke "Yes I'm him" I dont think that he really thought he was him, just playing for time :Wink1: , it was clear Desmond wanted this guy to come and maybe he would have treated him better so Locke could have played along to learn more about what was going on without a gun pointed at him = less chance of death :hee: , I loved Locke in early season one he seemed powerful and more "skilled" than he was letting on, he seems more "human" of late.
The count down timer was so cool, I wonder what happens when its gets to 0 :hyper: (bet we find out at the end of season 2)

Erm... Did anyone notice anything strange about that shark? Here's a screen cap -

(clicky)
What do you think? That symbol (upper left, near the sharks tail) is very similar to one on Desmond's clothes. My hubby and I are thinking there may be some genetic engineering going on on the island, what do you think?
Hestia - October 3, 2005 10:55 AM (GMT)
Oh dear... I hadn't seen that! It's the little things that give you clues about the who and what, so I think you're onto something!
I'm still sticking to the defense-mechanism thing: both the polar bears and perhaps also the sharks are just part of it, only they're real and not machinedriven or mechanisms. Or something... I really should think more about my theories before I say them aloud
But what is it they're defending? And what's with the black smoke and the quarantine... Genetic engineering does allow for more weird things to come into existince, so I'll definitely keep that in the back of my mind.
Lofty - October 3, 2005 02:28 PM (GMT)
:o that's bizzare. It looks like some sort of stamp. ^_^
Thanks for the updates, so the people on the raft got back to the island, and Jin and Walt were taken back to the island on the motor boat?
What about the food in the bunker, was it old tins or new modern stuff? Some old things keeps for years, or is the food not important.
What do you mean that Locke said he was "him" I dont understand that.
Also the counter explain please (bEg) (bEg)
Hestia - October 3, 2005 06:28 PM (GMT)
The raft was burned down for the bigger part, but Mike and Sawyer found some wreckage and could float on those bits through the night. When it got light, they noticed they were in short range of the island again, and I guessed they peddled back. You didn't really see how they got back on land, but they were quite tired. Then they heard Jin, who had his hands bound behind his body. It's also not known how he got back on the island, he could've swam (sp?) the distance, but he could also have clinged on to the boat. Not sure...
Then the pantry Kate was locked in: there was loads of food storage: I didn't see very fresh things like fruit or bread, but there were large crates and lots of canned goods and boxes. Also a box labelled "candy" and she took a chocolate bar out, which had a seventies/eighties look about it. She gulped it down and put something in her pockets. The girl must really like chocolate!
The counter-thing was in a sort of machine room, filled with equipment with a very old feel to it. Locke noticed it too, and he said something like "I haven't seen or worked on this since the eighties" or "for about twenty years". I can't remember exactly. There was an alarm going off, and Desmond told Locke to type in numbers (Hurley's numbers) on the old computer, then press execute. Locke did, and the alarm stopped beeping, and the counter sprang back to 108. Both Locke and Jack had seen the number 108 on a graffiti-like mural... So there is something with that number. I read somewhere that when you add up Hurley's numbers (4,8,15,16,23,42) you get 108... I guess that's no coincidence!
Finally, when Locke went down the hatch to look for Kate, he found her lying somewhere, unconscious. He checked on her, and Desmond came out and pointed a gun at them. They looked each other into the eyes for a while, then Desmond asked "Are you him?" and Locke half-smiled and said, "Yes, I'm him..." almost happily. As if Desmond was the first one to notice his importance, or something...
All this was in a different order in the episode, but I hope you understand the main plotlines of the episode.
The flashbacks were about Mike and his "struggle" to be Walt's father. To be honest, I thought he wasn't really fighting for his kid when Walt's mother wanted to get married to a man who could adopt Walt and be his legal father. Mike just let it happen... but now he's Lost, he finally knows how he can fight for Walt. It was really symbolic.

Another thing I noticed was that the word 'Quarantine' was on the inside of the door, I think the island is quarantined. Desmond asked Locke how many of their people were sick, I think there may have been some major illness (remember Danielle mentioned that the 'others' were carriers, and her people all got sick so she had to kill them) spread on the island and Desmond hid away in the hatch to escape it.
What I want to know is how long has Desmond been there? and what is this illness?
Hestia - October 4, 2005 09:47 AM (GMT)
Yes, I also want to know how long Desmond has been there... There were a lot of clues directed to the idea that the facility (the underground thing closed of with the hatch) was built in the seventies or early eighties, look at the Pick-up, the furniture, the computers and other equipment. But then, how can Kate possibly eat the chocolate in the pantry, if it has been there for about 20 years (16 years is also a good guess, seeing that Danielle's message was sent out for 16 years). I'm pretty sure chocolate melts or goes very mouldy over 20 years time. So I guess Desmond has to get supplies, or he hasn't been inside for that long.
Also, Jack's hairdo was very eighties, so he has probably met Desmond somewhere in the eighties. However, can Jack have been a fully licensed surgeon in the eighties? And has he remembered such a random face for about 20 years?
I'm still completely obsessed over this... I'm sure it has to do something with the number 16... Let's keep in mind that something important must have happened in 1988 (2004-16-1988).
Alright, now I have to go back into Quarantine myself... Noooo, not the straight-jacket and the isolationroom!
i_heart_Dom - October 4, 2005 07:05 PM (GMT)
oooh good point with the chocolate thing! hmmm... :thinky:
has anyone wondered what happens after Locked typed the numbers in the computer?

I read somewhere that this symbol was also seen on the polar bear's tongue when he attacked Walt...
Gotta find a pic of it....
