WHOAAAAAAA
Crazy. When the episode first started, it didn't even feel like LOST...at least to me. And that guy...when that guy was talking to Jack in the flashback, I knew he was suspicious. :ph43r: hmmm....(oh yeah...and Walt kind of freaked me out)
On another note...I thought Dom looked different than he did in the season finale. Maybe this is just me too, but his hair looked lighter (like it did during the summer), and he didn't have as much facial hair. (I guess it didn't grow back quick enough ^_^ )
Knuxs - September 22, 2005 05:03 PM (GMT)
Cant say I noticed  It was night the whole time.
Mixed mind about the episode... The Jack parts were just dire  the flashbacks and his hair made me laugh, but ugh I just think Jack is stupid, right along side Charlie :pups: :pups: I know it's harsh, but Jack is all about the power and his Daddy issues. Yes once in a while, but its ALL the time   So boy was I glad when Locke got into some of the fun, and the look on his face when he laughed about the destiny parts yet again....then the scottish guy was there wooo wooo :hee:
It was so strange and odd, more so than normal, looks like Walt had some sort of growth spurt over the summer, wonder how they will write that in... I jumped or rather sat there mouth open a few times, shock value was through the roof. I thought wow it was like a Jack flash back then it all flew along with the mirrors to the hatch :o :o the magnets at the end and where is Kate????
So I suppose we can say that.
1) The Scottish guy has been there for a few years...or has he? Fresh fruit and if he had those injections where are they coming from.
2) He might be able to get out of the hatch area, because he was waking up at NIGHT i.e when the others were blowing off the lid. Could he be one of the "others"?
3) The numbers, again what's going on, why are they involved? Did anyone else notice a new set on the walls of the underground room? :thinky:
4) The computers!!! To me that says he must be studying something, but more than that, the Execute button, could he be controlling the "monster" it sounded machine like last season.
What does everyone else think?
onlyonekingDom - September 22, 2005 07:52 PM (GMT)
Very good points, Rich. hmmm...I didn't notice the numbers on the walls...I guess I better go rewind my tape and rewatch.

 me too
Let's see...oh yeah...
Jack annoyed me too. And then when Kate got pulled in by that Scottish guy, my first thought was, 'Jack is going to go in now so he can save her.' Typical Jack.
And saddest of all, I got mad at Charlie for yelling at Shannon that there are no "others". That boy needs a talkin'-to.
(Jack's flashback hair was one of the most unexpected things for me... It sat very oddly on his head. It was like they were trying to go for a more "Party of Five" look, but it didn't work. :hee: )

:hyper: :hyper: Do you know how good it feels to talk about it with people who HAVE watched the show at the same sort of time as me. You no nothing more than me and the other way around, we can say anything we want here and its not a spoiler!
The Number... it was 108 :Wink1: a bit of playing around with the other numbers (BTW I loved it when Hurley was saying them again with his twist to them) and you get that one. So it feels like what's inside the hatch, the room I guess = what all the other numbers mean... maybe each of the older numbers means something else... i.e 4, there are now 4 people in the hatch, etc maybe each number when put together to form 108 makes something happen. :hyper:
I just dont like this Jack fan club, he is so boring. I've read a lot on the other forums that it's a US thing, the main lead has questionable hero problems, as well as ALWAYS having his or her dad being center to who they are as a person. Is that really real life over in America? I think Jack is totally sexist, Kate and the explosives was so off putting for me, it really was the point I hated Jack and his ego. But that hair, man the wig makers suck.
TangTrees - September 23, 2005 12:12 AM (GMT)
I dont have a long response.. all i can say is.. WOW.
My mouth was open like the whole episode.. and OMG slipped out of my mouth about 5 times.
WOW.
onlyonekingDom - September 23, 2005 12:32 AM (GMT)
I felt the same way, Stacey. :)

I absolutely agree! It's nice not having to worry about who knows what and what may be a spoiler. That gets exhausting. So yeah...
That's an interesting theory on the number 108. :thinky: I'll have to pay more attention from now on.

I think Jack's boring too. I had a debate early on in season 1 with my mom...he was her favorite right away, I guess because he was portrayed as the "hero", but she eventually changed her mind and decided she likes Sawyer more. Having a main hero with inner problems does seem to crop up in entertainment, but I'm not sure about "real life". It bugs me when characters try to be extremely heroic. I mean really...how likely is it that the same person is always going to be involved in so much drama and then still come out as the "hero"? It's annoying. Personally, I think it would have been interesting if the writers had stuck to their original idea and killed Jack off (I apologize to all Jack fans). But yeah...I better stop. :red:

As soon as I saw the guy running on the stairs start to talk to Jack, I had a
feeling he was the one in the hatch area. Did anyone eles notice he had fresh
eggs? What does he have, chickens down there?
Vixta - September 23, 2005 05:19 PM (GMT)
It was a good start to the new season I thought, lots more mystery and stuff, so thumbs up in my book. Enjoyed all your thoughts everyone. :)
i_heart_Dom - September 24, 2005 01:28 AM (GMT)
it didnt seem like typical Lost. i mean it had the same format with the flashbacks, but it kind of dragged on really slowly...
and Dom looked great! i dont know whats so different, but its GOOD!
i saw the number too, 108. i think it might have been HIS flight number or something. maybe he crashed there too. obviously in the 80s....(the music)
and Jacks hair, :hee:
the scottish guy....aaaaah! theres so much to wonder about! whats with the steriods? how does he get his supplies? is the "monster" his???? howd he get there? aaaaaah! i cant wait to find out! but i have a feeling itll be a while. i mean theres gonna be 3 whole seasons of the show...
and Walt, do you think that was really him?? I HOPE SO!
Knuxs - September 24, 2005 07:51 PM (GMT)
Well I had a random thought today. The people who took Walt had a motor BOAT, i.e Gas/petrol, They must be all linked together or it makes no sense. Maybe its some cult that brings people to the Island and worships certain members of the castaways. :thinky:
I dont think the Scott guy crashed in the 80's because he was in Jack's flashbacks, I suppose it will depend on when he got married and stuff, the year etc. The music player is old, but I think its more of a trick to confuse the watcher. Even if it was the 80's he crashed there they still had CD's/Tapes close to that time. But the biggest give away, is the AMOUNT of stuff that was in there, I cant see all that coming from a plane crash and it all being intact! So with the boat, I reckon they have a link to the main land... you also need to ask where the "hatch" came from in the first place. It just seems man made to me.
Time will tell...

All I can say is I can't wait for the next ep, I think Desmond's appearance is going to make for some very interesting episodes.
meriadoc0412 - September 25, 2005 05:58 PM (GMT)
Dammit, I so missed getting my brains twisted.... :hyper:
The ep was fab!!!!
Jack's hair was kinda ... woah, but when he cried I was like <C>
Dunno, crying men always get me, and Jack is such a fantastic cryer...
Kate's gone for now, which is not that bad... ::@
She kinda got on my nerves (Kate, that is, not Evie *coughs*)
And Walt made my heart jump out... i was like *squeeeeeee* doing the Billy shriek (for those who remember
Let's see how long she'll be gone.....
BTW, add all the numbers. The sum is 108!!!

In the first episode of the 2nd season, Walt appears to Shannon in the jungle. He motions for her to be quiet and then appears to whisper something. If anyone else noticed, what he says has actually been played backwards. I took the clip and exported the sound file, played it backwards and can vaguely hear the words, " [Don't] press the button...[the button is bad]". I put the words in brackets that you couldn't really make out, but it sounded extremely close to what fits with "press the button", which IS clear, and follows the storyline since Jack was about to press the 'Execute' button at the end of the episode. Oh, that JJ!

Its getting me all thoughtful now. :bounce: :fight:

"Who the bleep is Desmond!"
That's what I yelled directly after the stairs-part of Jack's flashback. I knew it was the man behind the hatch [Desmond, the man behind the hatch] right after he said "I guess I'll see you in another life". Freaky!
I loved the episode a lot, all the arguing going on in the group, Charlie looking cute as ever and the sudden wet appearance of Walt. OMG, scary as ever! Also when the music started to play all of a sudden, I was right up there! *points to ceiling*
I believe the man behind the hatch has been there for some twenty years... Seeing the computers and the lack of digital equipment. Oh, make that 16 years, on second thought. I don't think the fruit was that fresh, it could have been canned. Although I don't know if canned goods can hold for 16 years.
Very freaky episode which leaves me yearning for more. Let's see if the 202-episode I downloaded really is Adrift, or that it's just a wrongly named copy of Man of Science, Man of Faith.
Oh, and about Jack's hair: it is soooooo 80s! It reminded me of Adam Sandler in the Wedding Singer!
Vixta - October 19, 2005 12:19 PM (GMT)
i give this episode a 7/10-i kinda liked the jack flashbacks-seein him with hair was hilarious  and i thought it was v.emotional when that woman wiggled her feet! bless.
walt freaked me out-i luv him tho hes gr8.
every time i see Locke now i crack up-he is Knuxs -both have the same thinking! quite worrying really.
earendil - December 17, 2005 07:18 AM (GMT)
At the beginning I didn't really like the episode, I can't really explain though. It just didn't seen like 'lost' to me. But later on it got so much better!
Did anyone notice that the man in the ER was named Rutherford? Maybe Shannon's father?
AAARRGGHHH I've got so many questions right now! I wish I taped it so I could watch it again!
Hestia - December 17, 2005 10:11 PM (GMT)
Oh, I hated the episode! First time I saw it I was a bit like "yay, new Lost-episode!" but last night (saw it for the second time) I just wanted to cry because
a. it was boring (except for the openingsequence)
b. it was poorly written
c. I don't really give sh*t about Jack
but that's just my opinion...
maddy - February 3, 2006 10:44 AM (GMT)
z0mg finally Lost has started on Australian TV!
I LIKED JACK'S HAIR! C'MON, IT WAS HOTT!!! :P
When I was trying to find the place on the tape where it was recorded, i got to the part with the guy in the hatch going about his buisiness and it TOTALLY didn't look like Lost. But then I realised it was... so yeah..
WALT WAS FREAKY! And I swear he said "nobody". Or at least, there was whispering in there... wasn't there? hm hm
IT'S LIKE A WHOLE MONTH AND A HALF SINCE LOST CAME ON OVER EVERYWHERE ELSE! gar, old news... :)
Lofty - May 3, 2006 02:16 PM (GMT)
This was in the UK last night and It was good all over again. but its got me thinking about something //skips to the most recent LOST thread//
