Title: The Heir Of Gryffindor
Description: could this be Harry Potter?

My hubby and I have been discussing whether Harry might turn out to be Godric Griffindor's heir. Here's the 'evidence'.
1. Harry Potter was born, and spent the first year of his life in "Godric's Hollow"
2. Harry pulled Gryffindor's sword from the sorting hat and Dumbledore stated "Only a true Gryffindor could have pulled that out of the hat" - could Dumbledore have been referring to more than just a personality trait?
3. Harry is more courageous than any of the other kids, and, as Hermione said in OotP, has a thing about saving people.
I'm sure there's more that points to him being the heir, but I can't remember right now.
We also think this is building to a final battle between the heirs of Slytherin and Gryffindor. It's gonna be good, whatever the result of this speculation.

That's not a very bad theory and it could well be true.
Just one thing. How come the sorting hat wanted to put Harry in Slytherin if he's the heir of Griffindor?

I don't think the hat did want to put Harry in Slytherin, it only responded to Harry asking NOT to be put in Slytherin, it did say he would have done well in Slytherin, but Harry seems to have virtues that fit all the houses. He is intelligent enough for Ravenclaw, ambitious enough for Slytherin, brave enough for Gryffindor and kind enough for Hufflepuff.
He has proved himself a 'true Gryffindor' by retrieving the sword, which shows the hat's selection was correct, but I think the hat would have put him there anyway.

Is this still a possible thoery?
I thought in one of the books or on the J.K site it was discredited?
I really need to re read the books and swot up on the myths of it all, but the fact that he is fighting the great dark lord makes me think that perhaps he is. In most old stories the heroes normally have noble births or a link to the person they are fighting. You could point out that Harry does have a vendetta so that might count.
Also he is half muggle, arent the Heir's to anything always pure (blood)?

But Harry's not half muggle. Both if his parents were magical.
His mother was a "mud blood", if that's what you mean.

This is an interesting theory. The last book will be very interesting think.

Hmmm...I seriously thought JK Rowling told that this theory wasn't true..but I might have misinterpreted that interview..anyway, I don't think Harry's the heir of Gryffindor..I think that twist in the story would just be too obvious. If you look at Rowling's books you see that she plans her actions very carefully..fans have often been surprised by twists in the story..Harry being the heir of Gryffindor would not really be a great surprise for fans if it were true...it would be more of a shock if, for example, the Weasleys were...which would make more sense (all surnames of the Weasleys are all connected to the royal stories of King Arthur)...
But that's a whole new theory :P
