Board News week 19, 26th of June to the 2nd of July


Advertising the board

If you know of someone you think we should affiliate with then I’ll be more than happy to look into it, but you have to give me some clue!! :hee: Since we have been online I’ve gotton a few emails from people saying they would like to link, but I have no idea who they are. It’s awesome if you want to act as a go-between but you have to work with all involved.

More sites have put D and F into their search engines, so easy enough to get here.

Banners:
The New Banners are in place and the 8th placed banner will change every week, thus everyone who entered into the comp will grab a slice of the glory, but not as much as the top 7 banners which will go unchanged every week.

Still no Mandy, and few banners received by yours truly, and don’t have the time to go chasing it up and getting them submitted, if you think your be up for the D and F event coordinator job PM! :pups:

Clean Up
Some of the threads have broken links in them, they don’t look all that good and can always cause problems, so if you come across an old thread (i.e. the post must be over 3 weeks old) then click the “Alert Moderator” button, and tell them the post needs fixing.

Credits
Over the next few weeks a Credit thread will be active, this will show the people who have made D and F what it is today in terms of modifications, graphics etc when its active if you feel you have been missed off then please alert me so it can be fixed.

Modifications:
Any slight changes I make to the board can have negative effect in some browsers, so its important that if you ever find you cant get here you should do one of the following:

1) Email anyone you know on the board who can report back to myself or a mod, this can be via My Space, Live Journals, Xanga’s etc
2) Email me direct at Seven_knight@lycos.co.uk
3) Go to the email account you used to register with (Hence why its important to give an email address you visit at least one in a while, you can change your email address in MY CONTROLS) and with a bit of luck your find one of the board emails, which hopefully will have contact details in. A board email has been sent out for that very reason. PLEASE KEEP IT, just in case...

Passwords:
It’s highly likely that ALL members will have at least one password for a given area, try to keep them secure if you forget please feel free to PM a mod or myself.

The Hidey Hole is for all members with at least 100 posts, if you think you haven’t been sent the board congratulations with the password then please do ask for it, it’s your entitlement.

Upgrade

In the next few weeks/months (The upgrade is uncertain) the board controllers will be upgrading all the servers to a newer version, any huge change like this may create problems, I suggest that you archive PM’s and save anything on the board you are particularly fond of in case it gets lost in the “move”. Its unlikely but parts of the date maybe be un retrievable so its best to be safe than sorry.

On the plus some of the upgrades sound very fancy. Watch this space. :Wink1:

Usernames
If you want a change of name then let me know. Bare in mind that your old name will no longer be able to be used when you log in, so make sure you change it to something your remember.

If your interested PM me, please only submit applications if you will be able to and actually want to do the job.

Dominic and Friends Co – ordinator. It would seem that Mandy is too busy with here new practice to adequately fulfill her role as Banner Collector and world events poster. So I’m looking for a temp, which could evolve into a permanent position at a later date, if wanted. Jobs included:
- Receiving Banners from D and F members over a set period, then hosting them into a account, hence someone with photobucket etc will be needed.
- Setting up the banner poll when collection reaches high enough members.
- Checking and adding events to the D and F calendar.

No experience is needed, just someone who is eager and positive.

Estimated workload a week 1 - 2 hours

Objective Interpretation (Facts)


June 23rd (Thursday) with 148 posts was the best day this week. The worst day was June 19th (Sunday) with 41 posts. A difference of 107 posts with the average posts count per day reaching 100 (39 UP from last week.)

Once again, the weekend tended to be a more peaceful set of days with both days scoring below 100 even though the average post count a day was 100. Nonetheless it was significantly busier than last week.
Week 12’s total: 700.


This is a 39% increase on lasts week’s postings, placing this week 8th out of 13 weeks of chart data. With this week 295 posts below the top weeks posting.


Subjective Interpretation (My view only)

Better week, mostly the same sort of things. Haven’t had any new people posting in a while so maybe its time to go into “hunt” mode again lol, I do think that the summer is the single strongest cause for lack of posting, I know the last thing I want to do is type this up when the sun is so inviting, but I want it all done. So yeah that’s it. :Wink1:

Am very interested in what the upgrade may result into! Can you give any hints already?

I would think it would be things that Pro Boards have added, they had a recent overhaul and I expect Invison want to bring things up to date with them.

I do know there will be a custom gallary, so members Icons can be put into the board for anyone to use. (woW> The ones we have are a little... tame. Again all I can say is "Watch This Space".
