Board News week 17, 11th to the 18th of June

Was 85 by 85, now 90 by 90. (woW> They don’t effect the board loading as much as I thought and very few people use the board as the hosting upload so yeah go bigger, bigger is better. #haha#

Banners:
The New Banners are in place and the 8th placed banner will change every week, thus everyone who entered into the comp will grab a slice of the glory, but not as much as the top 7 banners which will go unchanged every week.

I would say send the next lot to Mandy, but still she is unable to fulfill the job, if you’d like to have a go then read the final vacancy below. Meanwhile until a member has been announced please send them to yours truly.

Board Width and other modifications:
A few changes to the board over the past few days, please note that some changes might mess with your computer. Naturally if they do the changes will be taken down, but I need to know. So if for some reason you can’t get on to the board there are a few things you can do:

1) Email anyone you know on the board who can report back to myself or a mod
2) Email me direct at Seven_knight@lycos.co.uk
3) Go to the email account you used to register with (Hence why its important to give an email address you visit at least one in a while, you can change your email address in MY CONTROLS) and with a bit of luck your find one of the board emails, which hopefully will have contact details in.

edit I sent out a board email for that very reason, please keep IT, just in case.

At the moment on some monitors there is very slight board inconsistencies depending on the size of your computer monitor, over the next few days I will be trying to fix that, so it’s vital that if you see a problem with the new display that you post about it. I can’t fix what I can see, in that sense you are my eyes.

Dom and Private Life:
TDP was pretty strict on discussing Dom personal related issues, and in the week someone made me think and asked what would be acceptable to discuses. So in short here you go:

1) Articles which are available online as well as in the real world CAN be talked about, bare in mind that they may not be factual true, you’re still free to speculate about what’s being said. I.e. if an article claims that Dom and Evangeline are planning to marry you can discuss.

2) BUT speculation of the totally un factual kind is not acceptable i.e. You think that Dom and Elijah make a cute couple and thus automatically are romantically involved.

Naturally there is a fine line between saying it in a jokey way then trying to make it happen by saying it, a case of: because something ought to be then it is. To be fair I’m sure everyone here can make the distinction, joke comments are fine, but starting topics with the sole purpose of disusing something speculative is not.

Passwords:
It’s highly likely that ALL members will have at least one password for a given area, try to keep them secure if you forget please feel free to PM a mod or myself.

The Hidey Hole is for all members with at least 100 posts, if you think you haven’t been sent the board congratulations with the password then please do ask for it, it’s your entitlement.

Portal:
Top right on the bar with all the other Arcade, Members, Calendar etc, is a button called Portal, if you haven’t already done it before, you might want to give it a little investigation. :Wink1:

Vacancies:

Below is a list of needed personal, for either D and F or external projects. If your interested PM me, please only submit applications if you will be able to and actually want to do the job.

*Temporary Dominic and Friends Co – ordinator. It would seem that Mandy is too busy with here new practice to adequately fulfill her role as Banner Collector and world events poster. So I’m looking for a temp, which could evolve into a permanent position at a later date, if wanted. Jobs included:
- Receiving Banners from D and F members over a set period, then hosting them into a account, hence someone with photobucket etc will be needed.
- Setting up the banner poll when collection reaches high enough members.
- Checking and adding events to the D and F calendar.

No experience is needed, just someone who is eager and positive.

Estimated workload a week 1 - 2 hours

Objective Interpretation (Facts)


June 7th (Tuesday) with 106 posts was the best day this week. The worst day was June 11th (Saturday) with 40 posts. A difference of 121 posts with the average posts count per day reaching 69 (57 down from last week.)

Tuesday was the best day and Saturday the worst for two weeks in a row, with Tuesday being the only day this week to top 100 post, with two days falling below 50 posts. Week 11’s total: 483.


This is a 45% decrease on lasts week’s postings, placing this week in last place out of 11 weeks of chart data. With this week 512 posts below the top weeks posting.


Subjective Interpretation (My view only)

A empty week. Summer is finally here, a sun-drenched week of sun in England so I envision similar weather else where (?) why stay in doors when you can go outside. Some good quality posts as well as plenty of quality news.

Its worth noting that we recently passed the 15,000 post mark and D and F has been alive for 17 weeks with means the average post count is 882 posts a week with a average of 126 posts per day.

Most Viewed forum: Dom Multimedia (That was hard to guess)
Least Viewed forum: Outlaws (The Lost area forum dedicated to that one episode)
Best day of D and F posting: 346 posts in one day
Worst day of D and F posting: 37
Most members registered in one day: 13

:YES: as soon as I get the board width sorted that can be arranged. :devil2: At the moment on some computer screens you can see a space on the right hand side of the last listed affilate, on others you cant.

If some aspects are too big it screws the screen up badly, thus until I insert the right code etc there wont be any default for all screens. Hence if in the week you noticed messed up problems please report them here. (bEg)

whoa! i typed in a swear word (bad maddy. bad) and it changed it to "tsk tsk. naughty word" or something... it made me laugh.... and um, sorry for the swearing... lol... but i think this 'converter' thing is cool..!!

Yeah that happened to me too. I wrote a word that starts with an S and ends with a T. :hee: So I was like: what the you know what!? I didn't write that. Very clever program you got there.

It seems like Photobucket is making trouble today. I can't see pics or avvies or sigbars, and the buttons have all magically disappeared. I hope this will sort itself out in the course of the day, but in the meantime: folks, if you have the same problems, it isn't just you!

I like all the skins, I have the magic one on at the moment.

Bad week last week I see, never mind can still make it up another time.

It did do, but thats my fave word, I use it in PM's all the time so it was a bit annoying re reading my messages with the board change in its place :devil2:

Swearing is just another use of words that let you express yourself, but clearly some people, especially parents dont think its a good thing, thus the "ban" of using them.


Poor week yeah, but not the end of the world, some forums get a lot less post than D and F, and in some ways its good, less posts to read and check etc. Just post when you wish, its just like a huge collective of people with differing ideas all coming together in one place to discuss life, and to have fun (I hope), often with a Dom theme.

The board width change is going on around now, so feedback will be really good. (bEg) even if the board looks fine that will be helpful. :Notworthy:

Board news 18 will be a little later this week, sorry for the delay, but I'm not in at all Sunday (Pop beach (woW> ) so will try and get it done monday.

I notice we have a Rules link below the skin changer, can I make a suggestion about it? It would be more likely to get read properly if each rule was on a seperate line. As the block of text that's there at the moment people are likely to glance at it and think 'stuff that' (or similar) and ignore it.
