Board News week 15, 28th of May to the 4th of June


Banners:
The New Banners are in place and the 8th placed banner will change every week, thus everyone who entered into the comp will grab a slice of the glory, but not as much as the top 7 banners which will go unchanged every week.

DOMster:
This is where all the OLD topics are moved too, mostly ones like birthdays etc. If you can’t find what you looking forward please check there first.

Board Width:
At the moment on some monitors there is very slight board inconsistencies depending on the size of your computer monitor, over the next few days I will be trying to fix that, so it’s vital that if you see a problem with the new display that you post about it. I can’t fix what I can see, in that sense you are my eyes.

LOST:
The final episode is due to air in a matter of days, when the series has finished I expect a lot of shocked faces (knowing J.J’s other work it will be very good) please confine the talk into the correct areas,

Please don’t post icons or “hints” into your siggys or avatars, obviously you cant confine them to discreet areas.

Passwords:
Its highly likely that ALL members will have at least one password for a given area, try to keep them secure if you forget please feel free to PM a mod or myself.

The Hidey Hole is for all members with at least 100 posts, if you think you haven’t be sent the board congratulations with the password then please do ask for it, its your entitlement.

Portal:
Top right on the bar with all the other Arcade, Members, Calendar etc, is a button called Portal, if you haven’t already done it before, you might want to give it a little investigation. :Wink1:

Search Engines:
We are now listed in several more engines, although www.dandf.org is pretty easy (I would have thought :hee: ) to remember your unlikely to need it, but all the same its there if you want it and thus should in theory attract more members.

Vacancies:

Below is a list of needed personal, for either D and F or external projects. If your interested PM me. Please bare in mind that some of the applications will have to strip off and sing a merry dance. Nah only joshing, but some of the jobs are only going to be pulled off by personal experience, so if you don’t have a clue and the job requires something you don’t have please don’t volunteer, similarly please only submit applications if you will be able to do the job.

*Writer (s) wanted. In particular regarding LOST, experience would be a desired trait, but co written pieces are acceptable. Estimated work load (including research) 3-4 hours a week.

*Temporay Dominic and Friends Co – ordinator. It would seem that Mandy is too busy with here new practice to adequately fulfill her role as Banner Collector and world events poster. So I’m looking for a temp, which could evolve into a permanent position at a later date, if wanted. Jobs included:
- Receiving Banners from D and F members over a set period, then hosting them into a account, hence someone with photobucket etc will be needed.
- Setting up the banner poll when collection reaches high enough members.
- Checking and adding events to the D and F calendar.

No experience is needed, just someone who is eager and positive.

Estimated workload a week 1 - 2 hours

* Graphic worker (s) – willing to design banners and buttons for external projects.
- good collection of pictures and experience is required.

Estimated workload a week, currently information is limited/unknown

Objective Interpretation (Facts)


May 27th (Friday) with 241 posts was the best day this week. The worst day was May 22nd (Sunday) with 37 posts. A difference of 201 posts with the average posts count per day reaching 142 (30 up from last week.)


A staggered and confusing pattern of posts this week, there was no distinct pattern as some busy days were followed by quieter days after.
Sunday and Monday which were the only two days to fall below 100 posts a day, making the total’s weeks posts 995.


This is a 27% increase on lasts week’s postings, taking this week to 1st place out of 9 weeks of chart data. With this week 91 posts above week one of the chart so after 9 weeks we finally have a new “best week”.


Subjective Interpretation (My view only)

A very good week, look we are in the top spot. The only thing I’ve noticed is a lot of conversation in threads (which is what a board should be all about to be fair) and quite a few new topics being started.

Dare I say the hot weather has made people run indoors to the cool computer, regardless well done! :clap:

I would have expected more talk on Lost seeing as Season One has now finished in the US, I assume that either 1) the ending was pants and no one really cares or 2) the ending was so spaced out people are still in a state of disbelief or 3) Everyone is depressed that there wont be any more Lost until later this year or early next.

If it is the latter don’t feel bad because it means a lot more Dom pictures as he remains in LA and tours several other countries showing Lost, during the Summer.

ok i tested them and i can only see blink and weird red colour, super & sub script and spoiler.. thats it!

It does take a few seconds for them to start working??

Again I'll be taking this stuff down later this afternoon and if you like then we can do more extensive tests...

i.e I've noticed that when ever I go into post a comment in the bottom left hand corner where it says on the status bar "D and F" there is a "error on page" sign...which may have nasty effects in the future. (N)

um.. i use FireFox and I think it is making my computer slow or something... i can't see the weird texts cept blink and weird red colour, super & sub script and spoiler.... its annoying!

OMG! and rosie can't get into here! she uses a mac computer and yeah.. well its alright if you use the ones only I can see!!! <lol>

Pity I missed them, I've been wanting to see the full effect of those tags. :(

I'm going to try and fix them again, and do a trial period like before, naturally if members cant get onto the board then they wont be sticking around but it's gonna take some time to re sort the coding. :dum: :hee:
