Board News week 12, 7th to the 13th of May


Banners: AT last ENOUGH banners for the next lot of voting when the event coordinator Mandy (e_malamutes) gets it sorted your be able to vote to replace all the current banners, so I expect your get something like 4 or 5 votes each. Please continue to submit them.

Buttons: The board buttons have changed a little when you put the mouse over them they ought to change a little. Problems with it please let us know.


Collapse buttons, :You’ve have a few weeks to get to grips with its function now you need to decide if you want to keep it or not. So far it appears to only work in Internet explore and not Fire Fox etc all you do is click the markers on the right hand side and the forum will collapse, useful if you never visit certain areas. To open the area back up you click the button again.

LOST: The final episode are now being released, don’t spoil it for others outside of your threads or in your siggy’s / avatars, nuff said I think.

DOMster: This is where all the OLD topics are moved too, mostly ones like birthdays etc. If you cant find what you looking forward please check there first.

LOST Dates: Don’t forget to add LOST dates to the board calendar your board mates are counting on you. The US dates are all I can add as I can’t find a good enough site for the other countries showing it.


The LOST Section is now up and running.
In short it’s a place to discuss all episodes past present and future depending where in the world you live, although it’s possible that can be done in the different countries threads it’s not very collective and as such only offers members a limited number of people to discuses episodes with. Further no one really looks into other country Lost threads, for fears of spoilers or the discussion has already been done etc.

Basically every lost episode has its own forum, for the most part I should image the biggest thread/topic posted will be simple discussion etc. Perhaps someone might start a specific thread, maybe looking in dept at Jack and Kate’s relationship during that episode for example.

As a rule of thumb it’s needed that in each episodes area you mainly try to talk about that episode, OR past episodes which add to your points. Under no circumstances should anyone be bringing in new issues that have aired after the current episode being talked about. So imagine that when the UK gets lost, every week we get to watch a new episode then come to talk about it with others all the while not worried about spoiling it for others, because if you wish to avoid you don’t go into that thread. Then every week we can move on to the next thread etc. (fingers crossed!) by the time we get to see it others would have already added their comments so although they are old for the posters, the new posters watching new lost will have something to read.

This idea should eliminate the time gaps between country air times but above all allow everyone to communicate with each other about the best show ever <lol> (IMO)


SPOILERS Its great when we can share our views on other TV shows, no other show is as popular here as Lost so there isn’t room for a SPOILERS thread for TV/Movies.

Do post spoilers (and give details about it i.e. what country etc) but do so in a way that lets you skip over it if a reader wants to avoid them.

Post then when you get to the spoiler write spoiler in Caps and leave a space, when you have written it highlight the text and chose small font and change to a light colour like YELLOW, just so your eyes cant see it by just browsing.  

Any reader can skip a post by pressing the Space Bar.

YOU can also change the text to WHITE and can only see if if you click the mouse and hold it over the area, you should do it like this; (have a go /Prod/ )

Text formats: If you want to change your text you can, especially as some of the coding isn’t listed on the general board i.e. you have IMG and Http buttons but what if you want to do some of the following? Topic Views: In case you didn’t notice if you go into a section where all the topics/threads are listed and click on the number which states the replies it will open up a sub widow and tell you everyone who has posted in that topic and how many times. I just found that out this week and thought it might be a good idea to tell you all.

About the codes, if you look below the smilies box it says 'BB Code Help' if you click that, it opens a new window with a lots of useful codes. Some of which are listed in Rich's post, but some that Rich listed aren't in there either.

Week 1 total; 1048 (DATA HERE) (however this was a 9 day listing) If a 7 day rule is followed the post total would have been 904 this is the total we will use in board comparisons from week to week.

Objective Interpretation (Facts)


May 2nd (Monday) with 130 posts was the best day this week. The worst day was May 1st (Monday) with 68 posts. A difference of 62 posts with the average posts count per day reaching 82 (11 up from last week.)

As the week progressed the post count maintained an evenly constant close number; for most of the week the total post counts remained close together rarely moving more than 25 posts. Establishing a closer average number of posts per day then before, making the total’s weeks posts 577.


This is a 15% increase on lasts week’s postings. But week 6 still remains lower in the overall chart with only last week doing worse.

Subjective Interpretation (My view only)


After last week I was expecting the worst, seeing as this week the weather seemed to be even hotter and posters were taking time off like no bodies business, basic fact, less posters = less posting.

Nonetheless I was pleasantly surprised when the calculator told me we were up 15% from last week (woW> . We had a higher mean which was excellent and the range is lower thus indicating that a recognized average number of posts per day is starting to form rather than being all over the place as in following weeks.

BUT there is no one day that does better than any other. I guess you could say that boards work much closer to people's attitudes and moods, than to some sequence of ordered events.
