Board News week 10, 24th to the 30th of April

Collapse button, TESTING ONLY:You have a week to get to grips with its function then you need to decide if you want to keep it or not. So far it appears to only work in Internet explore and not Fire Fox etc all you do is click the markers on the right hand side and the forum will collapse, useful if you never visit certain areas. To open the area back up you click the button again. Feedback is vita, it may create connection problems for members etc I must know about it. Thank you.

LOST: The final episode details are now being released }C/{ You would have read it before so I’m not going to go on and on, you have your own areas to talk about them as well as being able to talk about the episodes in the correct episode thread. Any Lost pics which might act as a plot spoiler should be created into a external link and titled as such. .


LOST Dates: Don’t forget to add LOST dates to the board calendar your board mates are counting on you. The US dates are all I can add as I can’t find a good enough site for the other countries showing it.


The LOST Section is now up and running.
In short it’s a place to discuss all episodes past present and future depending where in the world you live, although it’s possible that can be done in the different countries threads it’s not very collective and as such only offers members a limited number of people to discuses episodes with. Further no one really looks into other country Lost threads, for fears of spoilers or the discussion has already been done etc.

Basically every lost episode has its own forum, for the most part I should image the biggest thread/topic posted will be simple discussion etc. Perhaps someone might start a specific thread, maybe looking in dept at Jack and Kate’s relationship during that episode for example.

As a rule of thumb it’s needed that in each episodes area you mainly try to talk about that episode, OR past episodes which add to your points. Under no circumstances should anyone be bringing in new issues that have aired after the current episode being talked about. So imagine that when the UK gets lost, every week we get to watch a new episode then come to talk about it with others all the while not worried about spoiling it for others, because if you wish to avoid you don’t go into that thread. Then every week we can move on to the next thread etc. (fingers crossed!) by the time we get to see it others would have already added their comments so although they are old for the posters, the new posters watching new lost will have something to read.

This idea should eliminate the time gaps between country air times but above all allow everyone to communicate with each other about the best show ever <lol> (IMO)

POLLS: Lots of polls around which are directly link with the running of the board please use your vote otherwise we cant be sure of the best course of action. The mods and I could just go ahead with things, but I’d like to think it’s nice to get everyone voting and allow ALL members a say in the running and changes of the board.

SPOILERS Its great when we can share our views on other TV shows, no other show is as popular here as Lost so there isn’t room for a SPOILERS thread for TV/Movies.

Do post spoilers (and give details about it i.e. what country etc) but do so in a way that lets you skip over it if a reader wants to avoid them.

Post then when you get to the spoiler write spoiler in Caps and leave a space, when you have written it highlight the text and chose small font and change to a light colour like YELLOW, just so your eyes cant see it by just browsing.

Any reader can skip a post by pressing the Space Bar.

YOU can also change the text to WHITE and can only see if if you click the mouse and hold it over the area, you should do it like this; (have a go /Prod/ )

Its week 10 and we have over 10,000 posts (The 10,000 post was made by earendil) (woW> I'd just like to say a huge thank you to all D and F's members and a massive cheer to the Mod's who have done so much, above all thank you everyone who has added to D and F, it means more than I can say.

SO I'm pleased to give you a choice of skins! (WHICH MEANS FOUR SEASONs will not go ahead, although I'll be willing to add a bonus skin each month to go with the theme that gets the most votes)

I put them in to save the problems of changing the board around all the time. So now you just pick the one you like to use. At first the image might default back to the current one, but the cookie should fix soon enough and then your have that Skin where ever you go on the board.

There will be a poll next week to find out what people like best (although they will all be staying if things go well). (Rolly) I hope this solves the problems.

Objective Interpretation (Facts)


The week started off with April 17th (Sunday) with 80 posts, 9% of the weeks total posts. The best day was April 22nd (Friday) with 170 posts, 20% of the weeks total posts. A difference of 90 posts with the average posts count per day reaching 121.

As the week progressed the post count continued to increase until it reached its peak on Tuesday before falling to 113during Wednesday, Thursday continued the decline with only 92 posts, it climbed again during Friday and fell slightly during Saturday. Making the total’s weeks posts 853.


This is a 9% increase on lasts week’s postings. Although its only 94% of the first weeks stats therefore once again the first week in D and F statistical reporting remains at the top spot with 904 posts.


Subjective Interpretation (My view only)

Really interesting this week, we are up on the post counts and score a huge 9% more than last week and rapidly gaining on the first weeks score of 904 posts in a week. (Just over 50 out)

What was most attention-grabbing is the fact that we suffered the exactly the same slump mid week as we did the week before, i.e. come Wednesday the rise stops and we head down and the same is true for Thursday, with Friday shooting up and for this week scores the highest days count. Further more Saturday is high but not high enough.

For a duplicate trend like that is really something, I’d be interested to hear what posters do every week on Wednesdays and Thursdays that is different to the rest of the week. :thinky:

The new buttons look great buttt, this is just my opinion. I dont like the way the Lost section is set out. With a thread thing for EVERY episode.

I did notice that some of the smiles have changed back to words, like in Tigerlily siggy she once had a bouncy now its just a word??? :unsure:

No that's fair enough, not everyone is going to like all the changes. The way I see it is your free to carry on posting where you want i.e the Lost In Australia thread, but if you want to talk about with people from around the world then use the new forums. Agree that it would work better if we had more members, but quite a few members are from the UK and I think that would work.

For now its on a trial period, but as it doesnt effect any of the board in a major way I dont think it will be going anywhere, but you never know. (Rolly)


Yes sorry Lofty some of the smilies codes were changed which means some will just be letters or symbols, I tried to make them easy to remember so you dont have to keep opening up the huge box to get at them.

Jess The new games are a little tempermental they are being hosted by Ripway and you know how that can be at times #haha# all I can say is keeping trying and it will work. The LOTRs game is a one time deal once you have finished it once there is nothing more to go back for. :(

Yey pacman. I'm so gonna play that. It used to drive me absolutely bonkers. But I liked it.

And I changed my bounce word back into a bouncy smilie. Now I can jump again. :bounce: (I think we should name this smile Miranda :Wink1: )
