Thank you #haha# Its a bit of a joke really, St George's symbol is only really used every two years for one of the football events i.e the world cup, becuase the English flag is St Georges, he Killed a dragon long ago, seems with all the Harry Potter lovers that killing has fallen out with celberating him :hee: Patricks Day is known all over the world and he is the Saint for Ireland, same for OZ day over here, no saint but they still have a special day, maybe thats like the 4th of July for the US?
No one does much of anything its a bit sad really, if you arent awear of your own saint then either you dont have one, or you are worse off than England :die:

#haha# You should take this seriously and ask for a day off from work. You can really mess with all the tourist. Make em wear stupid hats and sing silly songs and such. St. George's day could be so much fun that way.
Well, we've got queensday. It's tomorrow. We celebrate the queen's birthday. It's not really her birthday (I think it was her mother's). Anyhow: it's a crazy day. It's a national holiday, so we don't have to go to work. And everybody wears orangs clothes (our national color) I never do however, orange doesn't look good on me. (Rolly)
The biggest thing is probably all the junk sales. Especially in Amsterdam at the vrijmarkt. A place where everybody can sell his old stuff. It's always extremely crowded. There's also lots of music.
And I just heard on the news that lots of Germans, French and English come over here to celebrate. They think it's a unique folkfest that you have to have seen at least once in a lifetime. I think that's taking it a bit too far. But hell, whatever makes em happy is fine by me. <lol>
