Board News week 9, 17th to the 23rd of April



Banners: The event coordinator Mandy (e_malamutes) will be collecting the next lot of banners, when there is enough she will set up another voting thread. So get some in! Please send them to her. <lol> Moving banners ARE allowed if you want to have a go using paint shop or another programe that lets you do that. (Rolly)

Board Buttons: You might have noticed the new boards buttons, please give feedback as you see fit. (If you cant see them I'd like to hear about that too)

Board SATS: Seem to be going OK, not had too much feedback from everyone, so please help me to help you by saying what you like and what you don’t I cant mind read… Yet (Winker). I'll be posting up this weeks SATS Sunday Night (17/4/05)

LOST: The final episode details are now being released }C/{ . Now this is where you had better listen up good, if I read a spoiler about lost anywhere on the board other than the lost spoiler thread your going to feel my wrath! I’m not joking around, this is one thing I wont budge on, there are people including myself who haven’t seen it or don’t want to know what happens. Please don’t be selfish and reveal what happens. You have all been warned.
Don’t forget to add LOST dates to the board calendar your board mates are counting on you. The US dates are all I can add as I can’t find a good enough site for the other countries showing it. If I spoke the language...... :(

NEW TOPICS STARTING If a topic isn’t posted in for some weeks it will "hide" in order to see it again you need to change the display setting to show all topics from "the beginning" this will reveal all. PLEASE don’t start a new topic until you have checked for this. If this occurs the new topic you started will be mergered into the older one and the older one's title will remain. Basically don’t waste your time starting a new topic when one already exists. ><()

SPOILERS Its great when we can share our views on other TV shows, no other show is as popular here as Lost so there isn’t room for a SPOILERS thread for TV/Movies.

Do post spoilers (and give details about it i.e what country etc) but do so in a way that lets you skip over it if a reader wants to avoid them.

Post then when you get to the spoiler write spoiler in Caps and leave a space, when you have written it highlight the text and chose small font and change to a light colour like YELLOW, just so your eyes cant see it by just browsing.

Any reader can skip a post by pressing the Space Bar.

YOU can also change the text to WHITE and can only see if if you click the mouse and hold it over the area, you should do it like this; (have a go /Prod/ )

THEME a suggestion in the week sparked my curiosity, what do you think of maybe themed D and F months ? Nothing major, just a new banner based on one part of Dom or life in General, i.e. in May maybe a summer themed month, A summer main Banner and summer topics in a themed section i.e. where are you going on holiday, what do you do for sun burn etc (I’m sure you all get the idea! <Ton? ), this is only in the early stages so please post up your thoughts or if you’d be willing to help, maybe have mod control there for the time its up. Also vote in the poll above. YOU HAVE TWO VOTES

A while ago Rich suggested to do different banners for different occasions. It's kinda like google. For instance: last week was Leonardo da Vinci's day of birth and they had a Leonardo banner. Now I don't think we should do that (cuz that's carrying it a wee bit too far). But it would perhaps be a nice idea to do a world aids day banner. I think it's best to do days that are known worldwide. I'm just suggesting stuff. You tell me what ya think.

I agree, some months are going to be easier than others to work out, July for example will be a Harry Potter month, a countdown thread etc. I don’t mind Banners but the main reason I was put off was because some of the other members might not like Harry Potter. Others could be things, as Miranda pointed out, universal, like AIDS month. Naturally lots of things tend to occur during any one month and it would be impossible for me to maintain a constantly changing number of themes. So one a month seems reasonable, AS for choosing I have no problems with suggestions during any month and a board poll towards the end. Perhaps people could say if they want to take part in that month’s theme, I.e. mod the section, find/make banners and graphics. Naturally if everyone wants to help out it could get messy and I’d prefer not to “vote” for people to help. For now we will see what happens….

Week one total; 1048 (DATA HERE) (however this was a 9 day listing) If a 7 day rule is followed the post total would have been 904 this is the total we will use in board comparisons from week to week.

RANGE (The highest and lowest scores listed and then taken away to give the range of posts) 158 – 62 = 96



Objective Interpretation (Facts)


The week started off with April 10th (Sunday) with 87 posts, 11% of the weeks total posts. The best day was April 12th (Tuesday) with 158 posts, 20% of the weeks total posts. A difference of 96 posts with the average posts count per day reaching 111.

As the week progressed the post count continued to increase until it reached its peak on Tuesday before falling to 128 during Wednesday, Thursday also had a decrease with only 62 posts, it climbed again during Friday and fell slightly during Saturday. Making the total’s weeks posts 777.


This is a 7% increase on lasts week’s postings. Although its only 86% of the first weeks stats therefore once again the first week in D and F statistical reporting remains at the top spot with 904 posts.


Subjective Interpretation (My view only)

A erratic week I doubt any researcher would be able to find any stable trends in lasts weeks posting, a general increase then a slump which got better as the week moved on although by Saturday it was down 14% from the previous Saturday.

Sunday again was a quite day but surprisingly Thursday did the worst of the week the pervious weeks high total means this week Thursday reached only 45% of the total posts. I have no suggestions for a explanation. If you have any suggest them up.

In total we do have a general higher post count and mean despite the up’s and downs. (woW>

About the new buttons, well i can't see them, but you already knew that. I think it has something to do with photobucket so i hope i'll be able to see them soon :)

I'm really sorry about that...it must be a real pain :Merc: . If its still not working in a day or so I'll try and maybe host a single button on Imageshack and see if it really is photobucket that's causing the problems. (Rolly)

New section in LOST will be up and running later Friday.
In short it’s a place to discuss episodes, although it’s possible that can be done in the different countries threads it’s not very collective and as such only offers members a limited number of people to discuses episodes with. Further no one really looks into other country Lost threads, for fears of spoilers or the discussion has already been done etc.

Basically every Lost episode has its own forum, for the most part I should image the biggest thread/topic posted will be simple discussion etc. Perhaps someone might start a specific thread, maybe looking in dept at Jack and Kate’s relationship during that episode for example.

As a rule of thumb it’s needed that in each episodes area you mainly try to talk about that episode, OR past episodes which add to your points. Under no circumstances should anyone be bringing in new issues that have aired after the current episode being talked about. So image that when the UK gets lost every week we get to watch a new episode then come to talk about it with others all the while not worried about spoiling it for others, because if you wish to avoid you don’t go into that thread. Then every week we can move on to the next thread etc. (fingers crossed!) by the time we get to see it others would have already added their comments so although they are old for the posters, the new posters watching new lost will have something to read.

This idea should eliminate the time gaps between country air times but above all allow everyone to communicate with each other about the best show ever <lol> (IMO)
