No work on 'The Hobbit' for four years Sunday, March 13 2005, 11:41 GMT -- by Daniel Kilkelly
Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has said that he won't be starting work on a film version of The Hobbit for up to four years.
Jackson admits that he has a "desire" to make the film, but the project faces difficulties because the rights to JRR Tolkien's novel are split between two major film studios.
"I think it's gonna be a lot of lawyers sitting in a room trying to thrash out a deal before it will ever happen," he explained.
Jackson is currently working on a remake of classic film King Kong, and is also planning a film adaptation of Alice Sebold's best-selling novel, The Lovely Bones. |
Digtal Spy That means no Dom as "Merry" (it was rummored he would play his great great great grandad, same for Billy, Sean and Eijah) in the near future <Hissy< We still have Lost so its not all bad )Dance(
awwwwww. i really wanted them to make the Hobbit sooner, but itd take a while anyway. at least theyre making it!!!! (woW>
No. <Hissy< I dont think I can wait that long.
But yeah, atleast its going to be made, sometime.
I'm sure if this board is still open in 4 years, we'll be talking about how we remember this article.. and complained about the 4 year wait. lol
}C/{ >{> (Grrr!) I wanted it to be sooner! I hope Peter gets to work with New Line again, it just would be weird if it wasn't Pete directing it or New Line with it because those have been carried all thru Lord of the Rings. I HOPE that the thing about Dom, Billy, Sean, and Elijah is true, that would be so cool! And of course this forum will be open in 4 years! ;)
