I don't know about anyone else, but my dvd should arrive in 5 or 6 days, I can't wait...

For those who don't know, here's a plot summary (courtesy of www.imdb.com)

Jack, Steve and Goat are East-End Spivs. They spend their time wheeling and dealing wherever and whenever they can. It's not until Jack and the others get involved with a guy called Villa, and they are landed with a big payday they have been waiting for, when they realise what a mess they are into. At the back of the lorry they have smuggled goods in, they find illigal immegrants. Most of them escape but they are left with 2 kids; a boy and a girl, and have to decide what to do with them...Are they going to look after them and feed them, clothe them, love them, etc. or are they going to leave them on the streets of East-End London.

(thank1) It sounds werid but I had no clue what this film was about :dum:

I think this is the only Dom film that’s a mystery to me. Looking forward to mine being dropped off by Mr Postie in a few days time. Is the UK the first place to get a release or has it been out elsewhere before now?

Lofty - April 25, 2005 03:31 PM (GMT)
(woW> I got mine from Smiths today for 12.99 a bargin and it was in the chart area too, I thought it would be a low class film I mean it didnt get released did it at the pictures?

Anyway the front cover looks cool, cant wait to watch it (SNake> the extras from the caps look very funny today, I'll give a full report when I've watched it. (Rolly)

I got my copy today and I just finished watching it

I dont know where to start really....I guess the beinging is as good as place as any....To be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect, mixed reviews, and most were based around Dom but I got the feeling they were written from a “fangirl(boy)” perspective, Dom was the focal point to most of their evaluations, not to say that Dom was rubbish far from it.

Basically the film as a whole is so much stronger than Dom and that’s not his fault only his role of Goat is to blame, it’s too limited for him to create a huge impact. Ken Scot who places Jack is the focal point for the film and in the extras Dom says it better. (Watch and see! :Wink1: )

Goat, is just great fun, I was laughing so much at the start, he has this nailed down accent that is just perfect for a dim junkie, he is smoking pot and junk for most of the movie, but his lines are witty and he delivers them fantastically. I’m not saying that because I’m a fan of Dom, I’m a fan of Dom because of films like these.

Dom’s acting is flawless and your be laughing too, until about half way through, then it gets real twisted. Goat is forgotten and you’re more intent of following the main story. Which is why I really do feel your have to be 15 to watch this film as the rating states, naturally some of you under 15 will be perfectly mature and I don’t think there is anyone on this board who couldn’t watch it. I’m just saying it’s not all fun throughout…… :DARK:

I have to say that his role of Goat ranks high on my favourite Dom characters.

The extras are OK, Dom is in them a fair bit and he cracks some joke (Is it a joke???) about needing TWO cups :o to protect himself from a err how to phrase this um - little slip of a foot. :die:

Basically I say go for it, it’s a cheap movie if your more interested in a quality film go for this, if you want more quantity in terms of Dom flesh then try An Insomniac’s Nightmare.

I’m looking forward to what others have to say! :nany:

Spivs DID get a cinema release, and it was a source of GREAT annoyance to me, because it was only on for a week, and only at limited cinema's - NOT including the only cinema I can get to.

I get my copy today!

Knuxs - April 27, 2005 08:24 AM (GMT)
I have to agree with some of the others when I say I had never heard of it before, so I was so shocked I could get hold of it so easily in the chart section, I really thought I would have had to get it online. (Rolly)

I'm really intigued to what you guys thought of it, fill me in, did you like it, was it worth the money for 1) Dom and 2) the overall movie?

Meriagrin Brandytook - April 27, 2005 09:18 AM (GMT)
I've been waiting for more than 18 months for this film, and now I have it!!! I've watched it once and the 'making of' twice, I love it. Goat is just brilliant! Alright, Dom isn't in it quite as much as I'd like, but it's a fantastic story, and quite compelling viewing. I really enjoyed it. Dom's performance was excellent, his accent is just perfect, it's so smooth, it sounds really natural. The other actors perform equally well, I could empathise with all of them.

I was surprised to find my local WHSmith only appeared to have 2 copies left (and that's going by what I could see of the storage cupboard as well as the shelves)

Overall a great buy, well worth the money (and if you buy it online at WHSmith it's only £11.99)

Lofty - April 27, 2005 12:27 PM (GMT)
I agree with what both of you have already said, the film is much stronger than Dom, but him in high shoes was the funniest thing ever and when he started to talk I was crying with laughter his accent is so out of it that thats all you can do. The twist in the middle is so scary I was on the edge of my seat all the way through. Gripping stuff.

buy this everyone (if you can) its a fantastic film. (woW>

IloveDommie - April 30, 2005 04:55 AM (GMT)
so...it hasn't been realieased in the U.S. yet??? lol, Im a little slow, please fill me inn, im so confused :/

Knuxs - April 30, 2005 07:00 AM (GMT)
Fraid not, as I said in my post above its a really english based film, I dont think it would have a huge appeal in the US :( if you have a region 2 or ALL region DVD player then you can import it. Its not impossible, we just have to keep looking out for it. (Rolly)

earendil - May 8, 2005 02:08 PM (GMT)
For everyone with a region 2 dvd player who can't get it in stores, there is a site where you can order it from. You do need a credit card though....

Wow, your reviews have made me really curious about the film! I'm hoping I can find it in some grungy dvd-shop in the Netherlands. :craze1: I'll let you know about my results.

Hestia - May 15, 2005 11:24 AM (GMT)
And I have something to report to the Dutchies. At the Boudisque, they're selling Import Spivs DVDs. They're quite expensive, €26,99 but if you're postal order it, you won't have to pay delivering fees.
Check it out.
Spivs at Boudisque
Too bad they don't have a picture of the dvd or Dom with it. I'm planning on visiting the Utrecht store on Tuesday, so I'll report back then.

earendil - May 18, 2005 05:02 PM (GMT)

When I was sorting out DVDs while working at HMV I spotted Spivs and went crazy! I'll need to go and buy it because I was desperate to see it before, and I'm still interested now. It seems to be pretty popular though as there was only one copy of it left!

Hacky - October 23, 2006 05:58 PM (GMT)
I watched it a little while ago, and it was a little like SPOOKS on the BBC only the truly shocking and scary part got a huge reaction out of me, i was NOT expecting the twist!!!

Dom isnt in it enough at all! :( but the overall plot is pretty good. :)

dominics secret lover - October 23, 2006 11:07 PM (GMT)
